Beautiful afternoon when we arrived.
A busy car park in the daytime with many boat trailers awaiting their boats return, we left to visit family and returned later. It was lovely and quiet overnight. Clean toilets, dump station.

Lots of space.
We parked right on the side of the lake. Very quiet despite lots of motor homes parking here. Lots of runners and cyclists active early next morning.

A lovely site with a great view, very friendly owners.
Loved the thermal mineral pools, beautifully clean. Best recycling area we saw in New Zealand. Clean toilets and showers. Very quiet overnight considering it was the Friday of Labour Day weekend we stayed.

A lovely view of falls.
A school group were camping but still a very quiet site. Small site, small laundry, small kitchen, you may have to queue at busier times.

We stayed here for two nights before returning our motorhome.
Easy to drive into the centre of Christchurch from here. Lots of showers and toilets. Picnic bench by each site which was handy as weather was lovely.

A lovely setting, hot showers, good laundry $2 wash $2 Dry with iron and iron board too.
Kitchen looked good too but we didn't need to use it. Children would love the deer and ducks.

Our last night in NZ.
Very handy site for returning to Airport about 1-1.5 hr run (road works at the moment) Very friendly staff. Plenty of showers and toilets. Kitchen looked good but we didn't need to use it. Large outdoor communal seating area, good laundry $3 wash, $3 dry. Quiet considering it is a large site and there was a big group of motor homes travelling together and it was their first night in NZ. Bernie the Manager was really helpful. He let us wash our hired Motorhome, even providing us with detergent, so that we returned it in good order.

Easy walk to the falls. No view but perfectly adequate if you are self contained.

When we arrived there was a police presence but after a while he left, this made us feel safe that they keep an eye on the site.
Right on the seafront. No facilities. We were lucky to have an amazing sunset here.

12km gravel drive but worth it even though we were here on a wet and windy night.
Can't see beach but you can hear it! Beach full on driftwood and pebbles, lots of walks can be done from here but can be quite difficult walking on pebbles when the tide is in. Good flushing toilets.

Once you've turned off main road take the first turning right.
Long but beautiful drive along gravel road. Don't be put off, we had the site to ourselves, 2 clean flushing toilets. 3 gravel areas for parking, large grass field to play out on. no beach view. Lovely beach walk though. Very peaceful.

Lots of space to park on grass probably could get very muddy in bad weather. Two clean toilets. Lovely walk around the lake with fabulous views

A very lively place to stay, lots of facilities didn't have to queue for showers, laundry etc.
hot tub very busy but a rainy day. We loved the on site restaurant. Large group of foreign exchange students staying who sang to the waitress in Maori which was lovely to witness, site is walking distance from all Franz Joseph has to offer ie supermarket, West Coast Wildlife Centre. Very quiet overnight.

Right on the side of a quiet road but on sea edge.
Windy evening but didn't worry us. Boat ramp in site used early morning by fishermen. We arrived as it was getting dark. Was adequate for our needs.

A lovely location on a lovely evening.
We went for a dip in the lake, sat outside with a drink. Lots of space so everyone can enjoy the view over to snow capped Mount Cook. A great location if you're self contained.

We booked in advance and were given a prime site overlooking the harbour.
This was our first night spent on a powered site and being new to motor homing we were not sure how everything worked. The lady in reception was very helpful. Being a small site we didn't feel under pressure when trying to understand how everything worked. Toilets, laundry etc really clean. All in all everything we needed. If it was possible we'd have ranked the site higher. A great little Victorian town to explore. The arrival of Blue Penguins at dusk made the stay particularly memorable. Beware though they are noisy.
Thank you for your review. Great you managed to find everything easy to operate. We have one of the best spots in Oamaru with most things just a 10 min walk. Yes the penguins are delightful but very noisy.

We booked in advance and arrived late.
Lady in reception very helpful. No lake view despite name, except from reception carpark. Good facilities, best shower and cubicles we saw in South Island, sloping down so floor dry where you dry off. Good laundry 4NZD for hot wash, 4NZD for drier.
Parked on grass, had an issue with our water supply, the tap broke but Phil from maintenance came quickly to sort it. He also gave us new to motor homing good advice on how to sort issues we had with our facilities.

Just off main road up a short rough track.
We were the only one here, nice view of lake. Ground very uneven and muddy, lots of flies, in better weather would have been an excellent spot.
