4.5/5
One of my favourite campsites on the West Coast because of the location next to the lake.
Sites along the lake are nice, but if you walk a bit to the left of the campsite there's a small river and from there you'll have a beautiful sunset. A great place for a swim. Water (has to be boiled in order to drink) and toilets available. Sandflies. 13 dollar p.p.

Nice, spacious and green campsites.
Current owners have bought the place 2 years ago and have done a good job in improving it. Campsite is located in the middle of a park and has a small lake, tennis court, pool and playground. All the amenities seemed new, cheap laundry, good warm free showers. Wifi: 5 dollar per day for 2 devices. A really nice place to stay on the way up from Dunedin to Christchurch. Friendly owners.

Okains Bay is a beautiful location, the campsite is almost on the beach.
Okains Bay is a beautiful location, the campsite is almost on the beach. The campsite is large and spacious. You can pick your own site. Amenities (shower and camp kitchen) are good, warm showers are 2 NZD for 4 minutes, but the campsite only costs 12 NZD p.p. Nice playground and flying fox for the kids. For us it was the perfect place to spent the last day before flying out of Christchurch, but we wished we could have spent more time here.

Beautiful location, nice view of the mountains and there's a walk to the lake.
Ideal location close to Milford Sound (the last campsite before Milford Sound). One of the largest DOC-sites I've seen so far, a bit too large and not enough trees yet. But the campsite has been renovated not long ago, the toilet and camp kitchen are new and new trees are already planted so in a few years it will look less massive. 13 dollar p.p.

Perfect location if you want to spent the day in Dunedin.
We arrived late in the evening and checked in the next morning and the lady was very friendly and gave us tips on what to see and do. The campground is small and was quite busy. Don't expect beautiful scenery as it's located in the city. But the sites are green and the amenities were good. Free (good) showers and WIFI, large kitchen / room to sit inside. Playground isn't special but our son loved the old tractor. 20 dollar pp for a powered site.

Walking distance to the centre of Wanaka and the Lake side.
Sites don't look very nice, a bit disappointing compared to most campsites we've stayed at so far. but the camp kitchen and showers were okay. Nice playground and helpful staff. You have to pay for Wifi. Dump station next to the campsite.
