Stopped over at this colourful playground while travelling south.
Caters to kids for all ages - adults fitness area, flying fox, slides, climbing obstacles, two hamster wheels (and they weren't busy!!!), toddler area (fenced) and some other playground equipment not usually seen. The boy enjoyed seeing the Thomas train there and wished it could speak!! Great work by the trust in maintaining it!

Excellent playground on par with the Margaret Mahy playground in Christchurch.
Thoughtfully designed with water play, sand play, toddler area (with shade cloths), and two flying foxes (side by side) and older kids' climbing areas and sea saws and 'musical' area, and a big wok swing. Kids enjoyed running around in the late afternoon and didn't want to leave. Aside from the playground, there's also a mini golf, paddle boats, and model train within the park. Awesome park - will revisit again for when the miniature trains are running!

It's free and a cool site to park up for the evening.
There are bush walks nearby with 3 clean flush toilets (may need to bring your own toilet tissue and soap) with sensor lighting. Great for self contained camping.
