I was surprised to read bad reviews about this place - we thought it was great.
Yes the price is high but hay expected for any top 10 holiday park (so don’t stay at one). The facilities were great- a games room with machines to play for a small cost (pool table, car racing machines etc) and a really nice kitchen and dining area. Beautiful well kept grounds also.

This spot was really nice for a free overnight stop.
Waterfall close by worth a look. This spot is right by the highway so it can be slightly noisy at night (depending how you sleep). There are long drop toilets there which were not too bad either when we stayed.

Price wise this spot was good.
However when we arrived at our campsite there was toilet paper on the ground and a full cake splattered on the grass. The shower I used had strange taps and it was very temperamental with the hot water. The dining room and kitchen were not too bad. Overall the staff were friendly and kind and it is well priced.
Hi. Sorry about the problem with your site. We hope the rest of your trip went OK.

We really loved this little spot!
Nice secluded area just out of the city centre with a nice grassed area, toilet and short walk options close by. Unfortunately there were a lot of bugs but that doesn’t change my rating for this spot. It does tend to fill up by evening so to secure a spot I wouldn’t leave it too late.

We were grateful for some free camping in Wellington.
This spot does the job for an overnight stop. There are toilets and a dump station at the other end of the car park. Free camping is only designated within the yellow lined area at the far end. It can be quite noisy as it is right next to a busy road but for free you can’t complain.

This place is a short drive for Greymouth city centre.
It is right on the beachfront so on a nice day it would be really nice. Unfortunately the day we stayed it was quite cold, wet and very windy (being on the beachfront) which made for a very noisy night. However for a free spot to park it is a good spot and plenty of space for all vehicles. There is another spot down the road with a dump station but we chose not to stay there as it can get boggy and was not overly appealing.

After reading poor previous reviews we were sceptical to stay here however like most places where we judged on reviews we were proved wrong.
This place had a really good tropical feel with free unlimited wifi. Yes the campsites are quite close and not very big however you only need enough space to park your van- if you have a large motor home it probably isn’t ideal for you. There is a restaurant onsite which had a buffet all you can eat pizza night and free drink for only $20. For a small town with not many options we thought this place was good to stay. $46 for two people for a powered site- not cheap but most places are all around the same price in NZ unless you stay at a DOC site or free campground. Some peoples expectations seem to be so high- those people need to stay in luxury accommodation.

Nice and central spot for an overnight stop.
There are no public toilets or rubbish bins nearby so you have to be fully self contained. Keep in mind also that these spots fill up really quick (we stayed on a Wednesday night in October) and spots were all filled by 6pm.

Nice little area to free camp for the night.
It’s a car park away from the street facing a grassed area right near the lake front. Very close to town centre! There are public toilets very close by. No rubbish bins.

Nice little spot to park for free right in the heart of town if you are self contained.
Public toilets only a very short walk away. We used the payed showers at a local gym nearby too and there is a laundromat across the road also.
