Great facilities, nice campground.
Another good Kiwi Holiday park, even though its only one of two good Kiwi holiday parks we've been at during our 4 month NZ trip. Cute campground with lots of space. Good kitchen facilities, even though kitchen is quite small. A few work and holiday backpackers around. The best showers we had in NZ, good water pressure, unlimited hot showers and very clean. Would stay here again. A 4 minute walk to 90 Mile Beach.

Lovely beach site.
We stayed here for two nights and felt very comfortable. Powered sites are one step from the beach which is also very nice for taking a walk or catch some fish for dinner.
Friendly staff, kitchen and bathroom very clean. Seems as if the showers get cleaned up few times a day, which I think is absolutely positive. We loved it here and totally recommend this place.

Too expensive.
We were very disappointed as this campground is absolutely overpriced. Kitchen really really small, way too small for such a huge campground and no facilities for free. Showers were ok but didn't get warm enough when other people have a shower at the same time. Don't understand why it has such good reviews. You expect much more of a $21+ priced campground.
Hi Viola,
We are sorry that you experienced warm showers and not hot, hopefully you mentioned this to our staff as we are always willing to help or fix the problem. We used to offer free spas but found that people would take advantage and not look after them as much as we would like so a small extra fee for these we have found people to have more respect, we have kept our wi-fi unlimited and included in the nightly fee which we aim to be all inclusive apart from coin operated laundry.

Beautiful spot at the beach.
One of our favourite doc campsites. We had lovely weather in July, lots of space directly at the beach. Clean toilets and cold showers but not too cold to have one when the sun is shining:) stayed here for one night, would have stayed longer. Very close to Cape Reinga. Loved it.

Nice and cheap spot.
Good for non- self contained vans. Right at a beautiful lake. Nice little cafe close by. Flush toilets and the best, you can have power for $5pp which is really rare in NZ.
Don't come too late, not much space at the power plugs.

We wish there would be more of such campsites/ carparks in NZ.
All you need and very nice
Power and clean toilets for $12 in total. Matamata is lovely and the campsite is quiet and very nice. We really loved it. Non- self contained friendly !!:) everything we needed.

We've never been at a DOC campsite with power, hot showers and a kitchen so that's very positive.
Doc campsite with power
Nevertheless, quite expensive if compared to normal campgrounds. It's more a carpark than a campground but the cheapest you can get in that area. Would stay there again.

Friendly staff, average campground.
We stayed here for one night and it was ok. Staff was friendly, anyways showers (50 cents for 6 minutes) and toilets need a make over and no facilities in kitchen except for microwave. Lots of permanent residents.
Was ok for one night.

We stayed here for one night and were very annoyed as we definitely paid too much for what we got.
Unfortunately there aren't any other options for camping in this area.
The kitchen is way to small as there were many work and holiday backpackers around, so not enough space. Only two showers of which one didn't even work and there was no "out of order sign" or anything. And you have to pay 50 cent for 5 minutes additionally. We wouldn't stay there again.
