Large camp ground with fantastic amenities.
Cooking facilities were super clean and pretty much in new condition. The site backed on to a beach which was quite nice. Price for 2 people in a campervan on an unpowered site was $40.

Perfect place for one or two nights.
The sites can be a little boggy after rain, has a camp style kitchen connected to toilet block. Easy to find as it is in front of a shop/petrol station.

Good location not far from the CBD.
Amenities are fine and the gentleman at reception was very helpful with information of the city.

Nice quiet car park at a Rugby field.
Very easy to find and has clean toilets. A donation box is located at the entry to the car park :)

Perfect spot for an overnight stay.
Level ground and very easy to find. It is quite close to road so you will get a little bit of noise from cars passing by but not a big issue as not many cars in the winter.

Beautiful spot next to the Beach and walking distance to monkey island.
A few sandflies but it was winter so less of them around at this time. Be careful with the approaching tide getting across to monkey island as it comes in quickly. We got the timing wrong only slightly and we had to get our feet wet!! Spots can be a bit soggy after rain so choose wisely where to park up.

Small caravan park but big in value.
Amenities are clean and well looked after , camp kitchen is fully equiped. Be sure to venture out in the evening to see the penguins!! Please don't use flash or white lights. Use a red light only.
Thank you. Great to got to experience the penguins

Friendly owner with a friendly dog, we were greeted on arrival.
The site is rustic but has all the facilities you need for a few nights stay. WiFi, clean toilets, shower (detached from main block), drinking water and a nice level ground for vans.

Amazing spot.
We had the place to ourselves. Great location just next to a lake with fishing. It is gravel car park but not very level but fine for Motorhome if you're happy to sleep on a slight angle. Would happily stay again!

Good location.
Not far from Queenstown about 15min drive. A little expensive given the facilities are basic. Beautiful spot for sunset or sunrise next river! Have your money ready for when the site manager comes around. He will knock on your window!!

Directions are incorrect in previous posts, hence why hard to find.
If you are heading back east towards Washdyke then it will be on your left hand side just as you pass a small town. It will be just passed a road sign and has a white fence and cattle stop that you need to drive over. If you can't find it ask the lady in the shop in the town you just passed and she will direct you. Amazing camp by the river!! Keep it clean.

Nice quiet spot with level ground.
Lots of space for vehicles. Toilet facilities are really good, look quite new. Flushing toilets and clean sinks. Auto lighting as well. It was difficult for us to find in the night. Once you go in to the park do not take the first left where the gate is, go straight on but take a slight left when you see the amenities block, drive past it and you will see a NO FIRE and Freedom camping signs this will mean you are on the right track go straight ahead 10-15metres and you're at the spot.
