Big and very quiet campsite tucked away right by the river.
Shower and kitchen are both good. However, there are extra charges for dump station and we were advised not to use the water because the town just had an E. coli outbreak. $10 to do the laundry ($4 washing and $4 dryer plus $2 for a small bag of washing powder). There is small path right by the camp to access the river but the owner told us not to use them but to go to the swing bridge quite further away, which was strange. Must be near a popular bike path because we saw many biking campers. Overall recommend if you want a quiet space to stay.

Among all the campsite we stayed at during our trip, this is by far the best one.
Brand new showers (rainforest shower heads!) and restrooms and spacious kitchen. The free shuttle to Queenstown is an added bonus. Make sure you book in advance though because it fills up quickly.
Thank you for your lovely comments, it is great to hear that our refurbishment is paying off and you enjoyed our new showers. The shuttle service is free for all guests but with limited spaces so we do advise making a book to secure your seats.

The location of the camp site is excellent, right on the edge of the water.
Only two showers though and water pressure is pretty weak. No more coin operated shower which is great because there is no way I can shampoo and conditioning my hair in under 6 mins.

We were really lucky with the weather as we arrived on a sunny afternoon and the bright turquoise water in lake Tekapo was just breathtaking.
Loads of people swimming/sunbathing even though it was March. Beautiful BBQ area looking right over the lake. Very popular site and the kitchen can be busy even at 9pm at night.

We camped here after passing through several others on the road because this was be far prettier.
We parked our campervan right towards the edge of the water so it’s pretty windy. The upside of that was it kept the sand flies away!! Only two toilets so there was a line in the morning. Sunset view over the lake was very beautiful.

The camp site is smaller than what the picture shows.
The shower is hot and no time limit, kitchen is adequate, and only 30 mins drive to ferry terminal. So it suited our needs fine.

The other three marked camp sites on highway 1 close to this one are all in construction zone so it took us some time to decide to move on or stay here.
In the end, we were glad that we did. We were the only campervan stayed there until later. My girls loved played in the lagoon and black sandy beach and watching the rainbow. Watch out for the location because there is no sign for the camp site. Right across from where we parked at the beach front, is the temporary construction workers accommodation. It doesn’t bother us because we were in a self-contained unit. Shame that the cafe is closed for dinner.
