It takes half an hour of gravel road to get there and only near the end you know if you can cross the river.
If the water is below the knee, you can cross the ford (told to us by locals the day after).

One of the most beautiful free campsites that we've visited.
Great drive to get there, prepare to be amazed by the nature. Simple flush toilets on the field we camped on and a water tap. No other facilities.

Nice campsite in a convenient location from Westport.
Great owner that is always in for a joke but the facilities were not very clean. Because the backpackers lodge wasn't used we could cook inside, to avoid sandflies. When you plan to visit this campsite make sure that you give Boris the pig a back rub.

Beautiful campground with lots of different areas to camp.
Clean toilets, covered cooking area and picnic tables. Gate closes at 6, but if you contact the ranger beforehand he will open the gate if you arrive later. Convenient location from Wellington (and the ferry to Picton).

A bit expensive for what you get but overall good facilities, nice location for visiting the Abel Tasman park and friendly people.

This campground gives you real value for money.
Only $10 per person for an unpowered site. Clean sanitary facilities, nice hot showers and a big covered kitchen dining area with all facilities. Next to the beach. Owner is a real sweetheart.

At this very small campsite you really get value for money.
For $10 per person, you get a hot shower, clean toilet and cosy kitchen facilities. Great stop before heading to the glacier.
