Only option in Okarito, close to the beach and 'town'.
Facilities are pretty good - flush toilets with lighting at night, a basic shelter with chairs etc. The hot showers say $1 for 5 minutes hot water, but we timed it and it was only 4 minutes. Bit cheeky. All in all, a nice setting but at $12.50pp it's pretty expensive.

A great lakeside campsite, very peaceful with plenty of space.
Sandflies lurking of course, so bring spray. No showers (otherwise I would have given a 10) but a dip in the icy lake is a good option for the brave! $8pp is a fair price for the setting and facilities.

For a free DOC campsite, this is a great option.
The long drop toilet was pretty dirty and smelly, but does the job! The lakeside setting is nice, with ducks wandering around and the chance to spot some rarer species. Sandflies not so bad here as on the west coast. Willow trees provide fairly good privacy, but the site is clearly popular so get there early for a good spot.

Loved this quiet lakeside DOC campsite!
There were only 2 other vehicles there, so felt very private and spacious. Lake is stunning, and the tame birds liked to watch us cook in the evening. Bring bug spray for sandflies. Flushing toilets with lighting, no showers. Basic facilities but fair price ($8pp) for such a special setting.
