We took the Yellow Trail.
A two hour walk which only gets steeper as you divert to the lookout over the thermal springs. You could wait there to see the big geyser blow its top.

There also mud pools to see. It feels quite commercialised and on the expensive side.

Crossing was smooth and facilities good. Quite expensive - book in advance for cheaper fares.

Good value for money - the Jucy Cabana feels more like a car than a van.
The process of booking and picking up is easy with a free shuttle from Auckland Airport. Would advise against bringing hard bags with the Cabana and anyone over 6 foot might find it cramped.
