A DOC site which we used as a stopover for a night on our way north.
Has 2 composting toilets; washing is in the river if you're not in a campervan. It was not very easy to find (but the location directions that we had could have been better). There were some scouts and other groups of teenagers camping there, so it was quite noisy that night. Make sure you pay the overnight fee at the honesty box - the warden came round before 8am checking who hadn't paid.

A good site in walking distance from the centre of Russell.
Pitches are quite large, although it wasn't very busy when we were there. Very good, clean bathroom area. Reception team were very welcoming and helpful. However, it was one of the most expensive sites we stayed at during our tour of both islands.
Thanks for the feedback Dave.

Great walk through the forest, mainly on a boardwalk.
We did it twice - initially to familiarise ourselves and then at night, but sadly we didn't see any kiwis,
We stayed overnight at the DOC site next to the park - great value for money as it has a number of powered sites, plus a kitchen for those without their own facilities. Best approach is from the south; the one from the north requires 8km drive over a gravel road.

A great site for visiting the hot water beach and the surrounding area.
We arrived at midday and were welcomed in a very friendly manner. Our motorhome pitch was of average size but was quite adequate for a single night's stay. The bathroom facilities were excellent - especially the presence of unisex showers (4 separate cubicles) which allowed much better utilisation of the facilities and avoided any queueing in the morning. Free spade were provided for Top 10 club members.
Hi there Dave,
Thanks so much for this review, it is great to hear appreciation of all the hard work we do to keep our guests happy.
Many thanks

A great half-day tour.
A small group of only 9 people (max of 12) made the trip much more interesting as the guide targeted his commentary to the composition of the group and responded to questions individually. Mid-morning coffee/tea and biscuits were an added benefit and allowed wider discussion about the location.

A small site about 30 minutes walk from the centre of Nelson.
The motorhome pitches are on the small side and can be difficult to manoeuvre in/out of, especially if vehicles are parked opposite outside the motel rooms. OK from a 1 or 2 night stay, but probably not for longer. Presence of a family/couple bathroom was a good innovation.
Thank you for your review. I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and thought we were a nice distance from the centre of town.
