Very friendly staff and great location to Christchurch as we were flying out the next day.
(Half an hour drive). Clean facilities: toilets and showers, hair dryers, flowers a nice touch. Laundry only costs $2 a load. Dump station, water and rubbish facilities. $30 for a powered or unpowered site for two people. Only reason not giving it a 10 is you have to pay $2 for a 10 minute hot shower. Other than that would definitely recommend :)

Perfect location to town.
Just a car park. But it's free! Toilets are 200m away, which can feel very far in the middle of the night! Some locals had a massive party in the car park next door and played very loud music all night, so unfortunately we can't rank it higher than 7.

Amazing free location right in front of a great surf break.
10 minute drive to Kaikoura. Toilet clearly hasn't been maintained in awhile - no toilet paper, hand sanitizer needs topping up and it clearly needs emptying - but considering everything Kaikoura has gone through in the last few months it is understandable.

4.5/5
The location is excellent and the local facilities (swimming pool, aviary, huge park and playground) are amazing!
In the evening you can walk out to the port and see the penguins wandering in :)
It is basically a car park with flushing toilets, outdoor shower and dump station with potable water. What more do you need for free?

For $10pp we had hot showers, a kitchen and the place to ourselves!
A beautiful green space and walking distance to the small village of Wainui. I would actually say that the views from here are better than in Akaroa, provided there isn't a huge cruise ship parked out in the bay. We would have definitely stayed for longer but the place was booked out to scouts for the following few nights :)

Oamaru is a really interesting town, and this is a fab campsite.
All of the facilities are modern and clean. There is a dump station, fresh water, hot showers and a hairdryer. The campsite is next door to an awesome playground, which we really enjoyed despite being 26! An unpowered site is $34 for two people. If you wander out to the breakwater around 9pm (or when it gets dark), you will see penguins waddling to their burrows under buildings and boats. We even saw a couple next to the campsite kitchen! Really recommend staying here :)

Perfect for a night's stop after Curio bay.
Toilets are clean with flush, sinks, lights and a hand dryer! Drinking water is available from a tap behind the hall. Rubbish facilities too. Check the map next to the toilets carefully to make sure you set up camp in the right place. You can shelter from the wind by the hedge but be careful not to get bogged!

Very exposed.
We suffered from very high winds when we camped here. If the weather is set to turn nasty, I would recommend looking elsewhere. We sneakily put our campervan between the line of campers to seek some shelter from the wind!
It must have beautiful views on a clear day. And a good location for the Catlins. Toilets very clean and rubbish facilities available. Be careful to park in the area for camping ONLY, we heard that people get fined for parking on the other side of the car park.

This a lovely place.
Quiet and sheltered, no sand flies, beautiful setting next to river and historic bridge. Even a couple of chickens wandering around! Only thing that stops it getting a 10 is the toilet was "out of order".

Absolutely amazing spot.
Beautiful views, lovely long beach for walking, swimming and surfing. Short wander over to Monkey Island at low tide. Extremely clean long drop toilets with plenty of toilet paper. Rubbish bins provided. Understandably a popular spot so can get quite busy - be sure to get here early!

Incredible bathroom facilities!!
Heated bathroom, lots of hairdryers. $20 a person for an unpowered site felt a bit steep however. Especially as we didn't get a view, and neither did our friends on their powered site.

Super friendly Rangers.
Lots of space to park. Beautiful setting. Heaps of toilets available, yet people still think it's ok to poo in the woods :/

Basic facilities in metal containers - hot showers, clean toilets and a hairdryer available to borrow from reception.
$35 for two people. Basically a car park. Would be nicer if each spot had grass/gravel/a bench. Obviously a bit of a party spot before the 15 minute walk to Queenstown so can be quite loud.

For $5 per person you get water, toilets, showers and a lovely green setting.
It's pretty quiet and chilled here. Yes, the guys that work here aren't the friendliest, but they lent us a cricket bat and ball so we could have a play so they can't be that bad!

Excellent to be close to the glaciers and have a free spot (only reason why it got 7).
Not a lot of space so get there early. No facilities. It is just a gravel spot. People have clearly been "using the natural facilities" and think it's ok to leave their tissue paper lying around. Disgusting!!! There are public toilets in Franz Josef. Make sure you wear repellent as there are a million sand flies.

Excellent safety brief and then set loose onto the waters of the Abel Tasman National Park. Really good service and equipment, fantastic to have total independence. Good price.

Perfect stop after the 8.30pm ferry.
friendly staff. Hot showers. Hairdryer in ladies bathroom. Facilities could have been a little cleaner. From other reviews was worried there may be a train rattling through in the middle of the night, but it came through at 7.30am which was a relief! Recommend for one night if getting the late ferry.

Very, very busy.
Get here early for a good spot (February 2016). Toilets have paper and are reasonably clean. Use the super loo next to Taupo library for a $2 hot shower and use of a hairdryer!

Perfect location next to the lake, great swimming spot.
Quite busy and some locals came and played very loud music. Take toilet paper for the long drop toilet! Great for one night's stay. Use the super loo next to Taupo library for a $2 hot shower and hairdryer!
