Lovely little campground.
Nice touch with the kitchen in the railway carriage 🚃. Lots of useful items to use in the kitchen. Nice sitting room. I'd camp there again anytime.

Very clean campground.
The tent sights have no nearby parking. The female owner has a obsession for grass and what can be on it, so be warned. The cooking area is smallish and there is no leisure area to sit in. It's a small campground with packed in campervan/caravan spots.

This campground has a large permanent residence population.
Must be a full out of covid. The washing machines were always in use. The kitchen cookers need upgrading. The other facilities are old but in good working order. Pretty cheap to stay. The grounds are in good condition. Lots of good places to camp.

The place is a little run down.
New kitchen is needed. Despite that the hotsprings and cabin heating is awesome.
A great place if it's real cold outside.

The location is beautiful.
The facilities remind me of a DOC hut and has very little facilities in the kitchen. It's a damp campground. The cost is at the high end for a campground.

The campground is newish, with clean facilities, the showers and washing machines are expensive and there are NO rubbish bins.
The kitchen is not stocked. Ground smells of animal waste.
Not sure when you came as this site doesn't show that. Thanks for your reveiw, we are 8 years old and privately owned. Showers at $2 for 5 mins are not expensive, it states on all information we are pack in and pack out as we are 60+ ks from the nearest rubbish disposal place. The kitchen used to be stocked but people continually took things they thought were better in their vans than in the camp. But there is a big sign in the office where it advises we rent out a large black box with everything you need for the number of people in your group, the cost refunded on return of all goods in clean condition. There are only the Peacocks on the grounds once again because I don't know when you were there I can't comment but in 8 years yours is the first such statement about the smell of the ground.

There is no water other than the river which is surrounded by farmland, which makes it unsafe to drink.
Water can be found in town a minute away. Despite this it's not a bad place to spend a night.

Expensive camp, plus you pay a lot for a shower and the washing machine cost was excessive.
There were little utilities in the the kitchen. The amenities are new and clean with good views.

Incredible place but very basic DOC campground.
Take your own water or you will be getting it from the stream or toilet basin. The campsite, walked to the pinnacles and the coastline is well worth expLoring over a couple of days. It's well worth staying at.

Cheap campground next to a great beach.
The cooking facilities were basic and almost outdoors. Old school washing machine with a ringer. Owner nice and helpful plus there are resident Wekas, this is great to see as they aren't found in a lot of places in NZ. All the facilities were clean and there was plenty of hot water.

This campground was the most expensive we stayed at.
A small tent and 2 people $50. Staff were friendly. They gave each person a security card to get into the facilities. Felt like you were at work. Trucks rumbled by at the back of the campground. the facilities are old. But they did work and were very clean. We used the car wash which was great to be able to use. Its next to a great beach good for pre-teens to play in.

Very remote and peaceful location which is in a paddock.
The facilities were being worked on. When we were there it had a long drop toilet and not much else. Even so I would stay again as it's such a nice place to be.

It had lots of sites both powered and not.
It has a lounge and bar. We didn't look at the lodge it self. It had horse riding, kayaking, it holds events. The camping facilities was basic/oldish, standard and very clean. The wine sold was real good. I'd rate it at 8. It's on a farm and remote.
It's a good place to stop between Taupo and Napier.
