Derry and his wife were beyond helpful when I used their services to hike the Heaphy Track January 2017.

Offering a bed for the night before we started the track and even giving us a spot of dinner all homegrown from the veggie patch was just the beginning of the wonderful service they offered us. In the morning Derry had to drive out the the start of the track so offered us a ride, stopping at a few sights on the way and sharing many a story. He assured that despite the weather forecast, we would stay mainly dry - and from his great experience (he's walked the Heaphy 400+ times!) he was right! At the end of the hike he had left us a personally annotated map of Karmea in the car as well as some oranges for an energy boost from his garden! Helen was so friendly and helpful when I had e-mailed her and Derry was always prompt at replying to text messages. A wonderful couple and highly recommend their first class services if you are doing this track!
