Insight into Maori Culture while being open about tourism being an industry.
Knowledgeable guides with a great combination of fact, fiction, culture and childhood anecdotes. I would recommend a bit of reading into the history but the whole park includes geysers, kiwi, maori buildings and performance plus the art, history and creation story.

Friendly freedom kayaking with a good price.
The forecast we were given was calm and easy but this changed quickly on the way back. Of 30+ kayakers out that morning, we were one of 4 boats to paddle back through increasingly dangerous weather. It did make it really fun though. I would have expected some help but it was cheap.

Steep climb but beautiful.
Starts with a view of Lake Diamond and the mountains. This is great view in its own right but the view further up of Wanaka is even better. It shows the scale of that area very well.

A three hour return walk.
Combines a 2 +1 hour walk following the river. Being in spring, this walk was fun and as it was short we were able to set a good pace. The walk goes through open marsh, forest and opens up by the river. Not too crazy but a good stomp.

The van was well equipped and easy to use.
A bit worn but so are we. Solar shower extra came with a split valve. The oil light kept coming on and the central locking had a mind of its own. The delivery of the van came with no instruction at all which became comical as two people new to camping figured everything out by trial and error. Not perfect but it never broke down so I was happy.
Hi Tom, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. Sorry to hear you were not given clear instruction on pick up. Did you perhaps pick up from a remote location? I can't seem to locate your booking to see the details. There should have been a manual in the glove box as well as a back up. Good to hear you enjoyed your camping experience none the less. We hope to see you back again.
