Mike took a group of us out sailing on Boxing Day and we had the best time.
We were allowed to bring our own picnic (and drinks) and he took us out around the bay for three hours. He really personalised the trip for our group of six and had great fun with us.

Not totally satisfied as we were given a retired car, the attendant told us it was not usually rented out, except in our case during a busy season.
We did not get any reduction and although everything has been alright-ish so far the car is extremely uneconomical (petrol wise) and has great difficulty on hills.

Accomodating enough to put us on the next boat when we missed our due to traffic.
Cruise was great even though the top deck constantly smelled of what was being cooked in the kitchen.

Beautiful walk, secluded, full of wildlife, peaceful and beyond expectations.
Special thanks to the DOC ranger at Port William Campsite who was very helpful and friendly. The campsite itself was unique and charming. Only tip, maybe better indications from sites to the track.

The location is excellent.
Far away enough from the main road to be quiet, but close enough to get back on the route you want. Our tent was fairly well sheltered from the wind and the ground was flat. Toilet facilities were clean (underground stream) and drinking water tap available. There was an area for making campfires beside the bridge as well, all-in-all making for a great atmosphere.

The facilities were in excellent condition - kitchen clean, functioning, laundry ($6 drying $4 cleaning) etc.
There was also a large common area to eat in and meet other travellers if you wanted. The wifi was free, though a bit slow. The campsite is unattended though the owner was quick to answer the phone when we needed something. All in all, it was a good option before taking the ferry to Stewart island, however we payed $40 ($20 per person) for a tiny 2-man tent.
