Good compact holiday park just outside the town centre of Whangarei, nicely located beside the Hatea River and handy for the riverside walking track (either into the Town Basin or upstream to Whangarei
Falls - which is well worth the walk). Good facilities, with large and clean kitchen and bathrooms. Only real complaint would be the price - $48 for an un-powered site for two adults.

Spent two nights here with my girlfriend in a campervan during the first week of January ($36 per night, un-powered).
Location was excellent, right beside the Waitangi River - handy for the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and Paihia (for Bay of Islands tours). Our site was only a grass rectangle with no shade, shelter or privacy, but this was not really a problem. Only complaint would be the lack of showers in the bathrooms - only two each for men and women in a large holiday park is ridiculous.

Amazing location for a campground, right behind the beautiful beach at Tapotupotu Bay and beside a lovely tidal river.
The Te Paki Coastal walkway follows the coastline in both directions from the campground - the trail to Cape Reinga was breathtaking (literally and figuratively)! Clean (odourless) drop toilets and cold showers, and for just $16 per night for two adults (though we had purchased a campsite pass so effectively got it much cheaper than that). Highly recommended.
