Very pleasant place to stay.

You have, off course the sandflies..... you’re still on the west coast.... but we saw a lot of bumble bees! (And that’s very nice.... in Europe the are dying)
Beautiful waterfall, easy walk down
Overnight place is ok, you don’t need to put your wake up time..... at 7 o’clock the traffic and trucks will wake you up!

Well this was really a good place.
Clean
1$ the showers 15$ unpowered for 2 persons..... maybe not the “fancy” top 10 but in my eyes much better and sympathetic.
Quiet and sometimes a train.....but even that wasn’t disturbing our night rest.

Nice clean place.
Awesome walk (look Frenzy) and near the beach
Bins, toilet, beach, walks, little shop ..... and sun.....what do you need more?
We come back.... oh yes: don’t forget your sandfly repellent

Okarito Camping ground is a (really) basic campsite.
Friendly host, but 15$ per person is really exaggerated. Facilities and amenities are outdated and not enough. WiFi is still not working.... this time the excuse was: the latest storm! At the income of the village there was internet 😂 (they better say: no WiFi zone 😉) BUT: if you like walking: the tracks are great, nature is amazing and you have to use this campground🥴so you can start early in the morning for the Three mile lagoon walk, depending the tidal you can make the loop.
We had beautiful weather..... what do you need more 💪

We love this place.
Perfect camping ground, clean kitchen, showers and 2 kitchens.
Laundry free. 2 years ago we had an amazing fishing adventure, this year no fish but we enjoyed our stay.
We certainly come back

A 2 for the mess people make of this beautiful place!
Toilets are horrible, bins are overloaded and lots of not self contained vehicles.
No respect for this spot.
It’s a pity that Cromwell city doesn’t take the lead and send his watchdogs to control.
We have the feeling that the self contained rules are less strict in the south compared with the north island

Very nice place.
This is the second time we stopped here. The place is still perfect: very quiet, very clean, good hot showers and perfect kitchen.
Powered site:48$ for 2 persons .... this was our most expensive stay in a camper place 😉 and you have to leave at 10am 🙈
A bit to early for us .....
Besite this camping experience (because this was a nice place....and we certainly go back)...... we have the feeling that the West Coast is one big commercial trap! From Wanaka up Nord to Greymouth you have practically no free camper places. Very sad and very expensive if you stay a longer time West.

This is certainly a 10, even a 12/10 😉.
Very nice quiet place near the beach and easy walking to town.
Clean amenities, and more than 2 or 4 previous writer wrote.
40$ powerd site for 2 persons but free hot showers, kitchen and BBQ facilities.
Campsite is not that big, for us.... perfect
They have also nice cabins..... we stayed 2 nights instead of 1 and every evening al accommodations were booked.
Nice place we certainly come back.

Nice place.
Close to a beautiful beach. Locals keep an eye on this spot. Thanks for this.
10 places for cars.
Don’t park behind those.....or you get a fine.
Fresh water and dumping station.

Nice Place to stay.
Showers 2$ for 6 minutes..... for me an honest price because you really got your 6 minutes!
Washing machine 3$ and hot washing ......👏👏👏
Owners are kind and helpful.
Perfect spot if you’re bicking the Otago Rail
We certainly come back

Very nice place.
Quite and clean.
If you do the Otago Central Rail Road you can overnight there with the camper or
you have nearby a hotel and bar. Very friendly owner.

Beautiful spot but overcrowded.
A lot of non self contained cars. No control 🥴 I’ve been here 2 years ago, it was much better. I have the feeling NZ “self contained rules” are “slacking down” and this is certainly not ok. Tourism is increasing.... rules are not followed.
I see a big difference and a bad evolution.

Beautiful place!
BUT: people make a mess of it 🥴
2 years ago, the road was damaged, and the people had respect for this beautiful spot. Now they fix the road, more space for overnight and not enough control. For the first time on our NZ travel we found some shit and trash in bushes. Really ....!!!!
Were are the “watchdogs” from Blenheim?

We came back after 2 years.
Time to renew the review: start to say: very very nice clean motor camp!
There is a totally new sanitary block for the women. 2 perfect showers and toilets.
Men can use the other sanitary. Maybe not that posh but super clean.
Kitchen perfect!
Let’s not forget the owners: nice, helpful..... and they may be proud of this place

A 10, this is one of the most beautiful places we found.
Pool to swim, clean toilets, water supply, lots of places, no annoying people coming complain at 8pm to talk more quietly 🙈....
Perfect, we come back. Also thanks to the lady for the pool tip. It was very hot today and the swim was welcome

Absolutely nice place and also nice people.
Accommodation is « spic and span » ( very very clean)
You can hire a room, and they have 2 powered places for little campervans.
Bit noisy due the road, but we were so tiered that even this noise didn’t batter us

We rented, for the second time, a Britz campervan ( 4 berth Voyager) for a period of 3 months, to enjoy “the Kiwi adventure” in New Zealand.
To whom it may concerns
“Britz companies” is always our reference in all our travels around the world.
First time, 2016-2017, the campervan was perfectly in order.
But this time it’s a disaster!
We had some problems right by the pick up.
Let me make a list:
Household battery (for the refrigerator) seems to be nearly dead. Battery discharged in 2 hours with a reading on my volt meter: 10.5 Volt. We saw this one day after leaving Auckland and had to return. Our food, especially the meat was trash ready. (150$ lost)
The fold-out bed. Mattres was damaged, the springs were totally broken wat results of sleeping on a iron bar.
Upper bed: cushions totally used and not comfortable anymore to sleep on.
Rear door badly damaged and closing is difficult.
Gray water tank polluted and the smell of rotten eggs come frequently into the campervan . Results: clogged sink. We had to bye a sink plunger.
Fresh water tube had no connection!
What Britz Auckland did:
1: Changed the battery
2: Put a second mattress on the fold-out bed.
What we did:
1: We changes the springs of the fold-out bed
2: Bought a sink plunger and have tried to rinse the gray water tank.
3: We purchased an additional mattress for the upper bed.
We can live with the 5 year policy but the campervan has to be in order.
The maintenance of the car is really poor, certainly not a Britz norm.
All those inconsistencies were due to poor maintenance.
A gray tank can be easily rinse (after each hiring) with products,
Springs and mattress can be changed and a general check can prevent a lot of unpleasant situations.
Our conclusion: we payed a fair price but didn’t get a fair rental.

It was one of the best places we've stayed in NZ.
Quiet, very clean showers and kitchen. Nice campground.....We stopped for one night but came back next night after visiting Hanmer Springs. Wifi is free for 200mb just enough to check your mail. We come back.
Thank you for your feedback and for coming back a second time! We hope to see you again some time.

Nice campground.
Clean, amazing showers, kitchen and washing machine. Very good internet: 5$ 10 GB. Very good location for visiting Christchurch and surrounding. Lots of locals, but no old slumpy caravans or barracks. I will come back.

Bit old accommodation, looks vintage but why does everything must be "nouvelle vague"?. It is a place that I come back. Good restaurant if you won't cook. People are very nice
The road and the region is very beautiful.

I totally agree with Angie Abbink!
It is a great place and a refreshing from the boring and very expensive campsites. My husband and I needed a rest day and this was the perfect place to do it. We walked and enjoyed the place.
