It's a gravel car park, uneven ground, totally packed but free!
No facilities but perfect for getting up early and walking the glaciers.

Lovely campsite, friendly staff, good facilities.
Very clean and unlimited showers, hairdryer, clean kitchen and fairly big living area. Our favourite of the two weeks camping. We paid $58 for two adults at a powered site.

We arrived here late and it was dark, unclear where exactly you're supposed to park and difficult to find if without this map.
No facilities but on a beautiful beach and you can hear the waves crashing as you're sleeping. Short drive into town for public toilets in the morning! What more do you want from a free site.

This place is great!
Free and right by the water and quite picturesque. It's about a 45 minute walk into the town centre. Clean toilets and running water.

Lovely free campsite right by a man made lake.
Toilets are flushing and fairly clean.

This was a late find for us.
We arrived at around midnight and there's a note saying where to park and pay in the morning. We did just that with no problems. It's right by the airport and the camper van rental companies so it was really handy for our last night. If a little bit pricey... $42 for a powered site on grass, 2 adults, running water, recycling facilities. I wasn't bothered by the airport noise like I thought I would be. The showers are clean and fairly modern, they're limited to 6 minutes but that's plenty long enough and they're hot. There's a little pool for kids as well, we spotted lots of young families around.
Hi Nicola - thank you for your review. Great to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. The convenience of being so close to the airport and campervan rental companies is always a positive bonus for our guests. And yes the swimming is extremely popular over summer for all guests including children.

The campsite itself is stunning but considering we paid $16 dollars for one night we would have expected better facilities such as perhaps recycling facilities or potable water.
Toilets were dirty as well. We have stayed in better free campsites.

We had to leave this campsite at midnight for fear of being robbed.
When we arrived we had a strange feeling and there were people in cars and dirt bikes driving around as though they were scouting the place out. As soon as it got dark a woman appeared outside of our camper van asking us to get out and help her with an unknown task. When we didn't she left but there was a car driving around and around turning it's headlights off and on for the next couple of hours. It had an unfriendly feel and we didn't feel safe so we had to go somewhere else. The toilet was a drop toilet and the floor was clean but the toilet itself was very dirty. Right by a main road too and it was fairly noisy. Good luck to whoever stays there!
