This place looks a bit like Ireland.
Well the closest thing I have found in NZ yet. Long drop was smelling than standard but the place was great apart from that. Nice river.

Was aiming for Mistletoe Bay but the roads up here just never end.
They just keep on winding. I loved it but we were tired so we stayed here. Lovely view when we woke up.

Nice and secluded.
Car spaces fill up quickly. Sand flies continue to exist but sure what can you do. Lovely views and a nice walk to the mining equipment.

Cycled here and found it easy to find and I got some unreal pics in the morning of the sun rising through the long grass by the river.
Trees give nice shade too.

I cycled over Dyers Pass and Summit Road and this campsite was perfect to stay at before cycling onward, nice soft ground to put tent pegs into and nothing to complain about.

Quite a steep road in.
Lots of private spaces as well as wide open areas. Great kitchen and facilities. Good information board about walks and activities there.

It's not far from the village and I was allowed check in late with no problems.

Worth the money for location, facilities and good WiFi.
Main desk was great for booking a bungy jump.

No real complaints, apart from I think I paid about $20 to pitch a tent.
I was wrecked cycling in and didn't feel like going back to the cheaper place. It's a nice site and well maintained with a good kitchen.

Was planning on staying here but it was my first bicycle tour and I forgot my stove.
So one of the ladies running the camp rescued me by feeding her me sambos and tea and I went on to Methven to the shop, lovely spot with a whopper view.

Found it hard to find the road from the canal in the dark.
And we just parked beside the track using the GPS as we didn't find the campsite. Which is just a flat bit with smaller stones. Sunrise from the canal was unforgettable. Watch out for the rabbits.
