Top place to detour to when cycle touring through.
Community owned and leased to a friendly couple. Only $12 including wifi, tv and excellently equipped kitchen facilities. Showers additional means not a ten. Lots of pitch space.

Compact, small site with a few small self contained cabin sleeping huts that looked OK.
A limited number of well separated tent pitches, one of which I used. Grouped hookup areas for campervans. Showers are included and lots of seemingly unlimited hot water for these and in the spacious communal kitchen/dining area.

A new custodian this year who is very helpful, industrious and keeps the place immaculate.
Yes, the kitchen area a little small and the showers can be dangerously hot as not thermostatically controlled. But nice spacious camping. Same price as Trounson and much the same. Both have no catering equipment, both spartan, both $15. This has a custodian and now Maori community controlled not DOC unlike the unmanned Trounson. Both worth a visit when cycle touring through. Lacking a few eating table/benches in the camping area - only one.

Yes much same as previous review.
Expensive for what it is, very run down and dismal communal cooking/eating area. Tent pitches OK but ambience not helped with a JCB digger parked nearby. Not close to the beach. Wifi extra as well. Not worth the cycle out to.
