Perfect location, close to the glacier.
It's basic, no amenities, just a gravel parking lot. We arrived after 9pm, had no problem finding it but it was busy.

Beautiful lookout, watched the sunset over the mountains.
Great location after a day at Abel Tasman. Easy to find, a very short gravel road off the main road leads you up to a small gravel parking lot. It's a small lot and it filled up quickly. Toilet was smelly, but it did the job.

Very convenient spot for the Tongariro Crossing, and the cheapest one in the area.
$6 per person per night in an honesty box. The place for vans filled up quick, we got there around 5pm and there was only a handful of spots left. Non flush toilets, but clean, bring a lamp at night.

Beautiful spot by the lake.
Easy to find. Flush toilets, no power. Nice little trail nearby to stretch your legs. It was a very quiet spot except for the roosters that are awake at 6am.

Beautiful spot by the water.
Very quiet spot, all we could hear was birds chirping. No one else was there when we stayed, plenty of parking. Flush toilets worked, but not much water pressure to fill the tanks or use the sink.

Great place.
Friendly staff, beautiful scenery, and easy to get to. Only 9 spots for campers, but it was quite when we stayed. Bathroom clean and very well maintained. Flush toilets, hot showers, and laundry which was well needed after the Tongariro Crossing.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. Awastone seems to be very popular with guests coming from the crossing..
