This was a great spot that really is right on the lake.
This location leads to great views alongside a lot of wind. We were fortunate to arrive early enough to camp in a corner with more shelter whereas those arriving later were forced to brace the elements. One sink and one tap encourages conversation.

Easily one of the best DoC sites out there.
Lakeside pitches. Busy but quiet. Flushing loos and proper sinks. Lots of people looked settled in for a good while and we could see why.

This site is in a decent location and was the our only option close to Wanaka over the busy Christmas period otherwise there is no way we would have stomached the hefty fees.
It's one of those sites where you're allotted a pitch which I am never keen on although they were a decent size. Most campers had enormous tents, caravans, boats etc so this was just as well. The staff were quite friendly and helpful initially, although when we enquired about a curfew after putting up with a large group of neighbours heavily involved in an 80s tribute night for long enough this issue was skirted by Glenn and we were made to feel bad for asking about it - the curfew was "10-10:30 going on midnight". The lakeside location is handy with walks and trails along the river and some good swimming spots and the facilities are good. A perfect site if you want a booze up with your mates but not somewhere if you want to enjoy the sites and sounds of the location.

Incredible views all around this site make it a truly incredible place to sleep under canvas.
Great atmosphere - you certainly feel humbled as you look up at the hanging Mt Sefton and glimpse the peak of Mt Cook jutting out from behind a poorly planted tree. Tonnes of walks, great big indoor kitchen with sinks help provide shelter for what is certainly the busiest doc site we stayed at over out trip - and the most expensive. The ground isn't great and needed clearing of rocks before pitching up and the main site is hidden from Mt Cook so if you want to see it from your tent you'll need to move a bit further out.

Stay here for the spectacular views of the surrounding hills and mountains.
It seems the pitches are designed for cars/vans so if camping be careful where you stake out. Sandflies are particularly vicious so bring repellent!
