The best holiday park so far during our 3 weeks in New Zealand!
The facilities were very clean. Free and unlimited WiFi was a rare luxury in NZ, even though it seemed to got a little crowded and slowed down to almost zero. The best thing however was the spa with a couple of pools & sauna that was included in the price! It was very relaxing after hiking up and down the Roy's Peak track. A powered site for 2 was $47 if I remember correctly. There was also a spot for washing your car!
Hi Kimmo! Thanks for mentioning the spas and sauna. Unfortunately as of the 1st of May there is a small extra fee per person, per day for the use of these however everything else we have kept the same!

A simple grass/gravel carpark with plenty of space.
Simple dark and dry toilet with no water or paper. The night was peaceful, the view was alright. Suits well for staying free overnight near Wanaka, especially if you want to head for hiking in the morning.

A big parking lot in front of the mall that is apparently a hangout place for local youth.
No toilet. We stayed a night on Saturday, and a bunch of guys came by their cars at 3am to present the decibel levels of their engines and sound system. Did not touch our campervan or anything, though, but we did not sleep until the police came to stop their party around 4am.

We were positively surprised about the rock formations!
They looked cool even in the poor and rainy weather we had! Took us about 2h to walk the stream bed up to the pinnacles and return via the lookout path. On the way we needed to carefully cross water streams several times. Good footgear is recommended. Beware of the falling rocks! Many of them fell near us because of the rain.

Nice but small spot with beautiful view!
No toilet. Space for just a handful of vans. If you dare, you can park on the beach. Easy to miss, as there were no immediately visible signs on the road. However, you can see the "Freedom camping" sign when you take the correct turn. Note that camping is only permitted from 5pm to 9am.

Nice place!
Extremely clean and modern (unisex) facilities! Free WiFi, free hot showers. Next to our parking site was a colourfully lit tree giving a nice atmosphere in the evening. A powered site for 2 cost $54.

There were just a few spots specifically for campervans.
There were plenty of space at the time (April). Nice view in the morning! Starting point for some easy walks to the bays and the Cathedral Cove.

Nice green spot by the river!
Stayed here a night after visiting the Hobbiton Movie Set in April. There were a few other campervans but there was still plenty of space! Toilets were clean but were only lit by sunlight. Motorboats made some noise in the evening, but the place was quiet at night.
