Honestly nothing special, most expensive campsite of our 3 week trip.
$5 extra for wifi that did not work on any device. Also confessed to over charging us the first time we stayed there but just laughed and brushed it off and did not do anything about it (like offer us complimentary wifi or even just an apology!) Facilities were OK, relatively clean although could be better. Small kitchen and small lounge area. First time we stayed, check in was a nightmare, the lady clearly did not understand what she was doing 100% and didn't really explain anything about the park like where the facilities were etc, however the second time was a different lady and it was a lot better! Is ok for an over night stay but probably would chose to try somewhere else in the area before returning.

I am so pleased we stayed here, this was our final destination of our 3 week long trip around NZ and we could not have found a better last stop.
There is not a single fault I can find about this place, it ticks every box.
They have, clean, hot and unlimited showers, they have a lounge area which is always open, and genuinely is made to feel like a home from home, with an amazing selection of DVDs, an open fire, board games and more.
The kitchen is the best kitted we have experienced, with every utensil you could imagine for no extra cost. There is also a complimentary shuttle to Roselands where they do an all you can eat buffet of stew, potatoes, rice etc which is perfect after a day of caving!
To top it all off the manager was just amazing, he looked after us and talked to us often, giving us advice on the area and generally making us laugh! Also he had a really cute dog!
All I can say is STAY HERE!!
We will be back :):)

Fantastic staff, lovely bar and lounge area with a fire and reasonably priced drinks and bar snacks.
Small, easy to navigate site with a fantastic location for the ferry (took us 7 minutes early morning and 25 minutes in rush hour). Sites are like a car park so not picturesque but totally functional and did exactly what we needed it to. Showers are hot and unlimited on time, also free! Wifi is included, 100mb to start but if you ask nicely you can top up another 100mb :) Would definitely stay here again!

The lady on reception (we presume the owner) was probably the most welcoming and lovely lady, on arrival she explained the area and campsite to us, and then chatted for about 10 minutes!
The campsite facilities were ok, seen better, seen worse. The bathrooms are shared (which did not bother us but is worth noting). They had DVDs for rental and animals you could pet which were nice extra touches! It was a little dirty however it was pouring with rain so it would be unfair to presume it is always like that!
The spot we had was really nice, had a grass area and a picnic table! We would come back again, but ultimately what made it for us was the lady and the service she gave:)

Not too many bad things you could say about this campsite, the owners were lovely, and the facilities seemed brand new.
They were doing a lot of building work which is so nice to see, that a campsite is actually making improvements! It had the nicest spots and the cleanest facilities out of all the campsites we have been to (and we have traveled north and South Island so have seen our fair share!) Would definitely come back, only reason it was not as 10 is because the showers were $1 for 3 minutes, which is a little steep, however as a one off we didn't mind paying :) Good location, near a massive shopping mall, petrol station and supermarket (all walking distance if necessary!)

The only benefit of this campsite is it is super cheap, however other than that it lacks massively In comparison to other places we have stayed around New Zealand.
There was no method to the layout, it was a "park anywhere" attitude which is more than ok when not busy, but this place was overcrowded to the point where you couldn't leave your spot otherwise you would not have anywhere to park. Showers were dirty and the girls were constantly flooded, there were two showers for males and two for females which was again not suffice. The kitchen was ok but was always busy or being used as a social place as there was no where else to go other than your tent/van. It was in the middle of an industrial estate and we were woken by traffic. It was a bit boring and uninspiring. Would not go back here, would rather have saved the money and freedom camped. Given it the two for being an ok price.

Large kitchen, social area and good bathrooms.
All kept clean. Wasn't really a problem for us too much, but there is no wifi and little phone reception out there (actually quite refreshing :) ) Would stay again, but only for a short time.

Very pleasant campsite, bathrooms are brand new and were always very clean.
The setting was beautiful with a little river running beside the campsite and no noise from passing traffic. However as we are travelling and going for the more active style of holiday, it means we need time flexibility; all other campsites facilities have closed around 10pm, this one closed between 8-8.30pm which was a struggle for us as we were off doing things in the day. Made it near on impossible to use the ovens as you needed to hand in a deposit whilst reception is open, to get a key to use (I understand why this rule is here, it is more the times that affected us!) also laundry all turned off very early and only had one tumble dryer (we are in spring and the weather was not suitable to hang out washing!) which was a little inconvenient.
Owners were very lovely to deal with and extremely welcoming, would go back but just be aware of the early facility closes.

Host was very friendly and welcoming, facilities were great, lots of space in the girls bathroom to change and get ready!
Also has two natural hot spring pools. Campsite is well located and feels very secure and homely! Would definitely recommend a stay here if you are dropping by Rotorua

Very friendly guy who greeted us, very casual park, we stayed off season so could park anywhere in the area and meant we had a lot of space to ourselves.
Clean facilities and huge kitchen.

Small campsite which gave it a more homely feel, we were welcomed on arrival by an extremely friendly and chatty guy on reception who gave us some pointers about the area.
Facilities were correct size for campsite as often we have found that we are fighting for use of facilities at others. Would have loved to stay here longer than a stop over as it was a great location, shops and pubs only 500m away, and fantastic scenery. Also campsite provides services such as bike rentals at a very competitive price.

Really friendly reception staff, seems great for kids and families, had good facilities although bathrooms were dirty most of the time and this is off season with good weather!
Really good location for park and beach, as far as the holiday park goes it is totally fine and I would stay here again, it was just nothing special.
Also no free allocation of wifi at all, had to pay for all usage unlike others where you get 100mb-250mb included.

Nice private campsites, you each have your own little area surrounded by bushes.
Other than that you are paying a lot of money for nothing, there are only two showers and two toilets for both male and females. No sanitary bins in either toilet??!! A little awkward for the ladies as the only other bins are in the allocated outdoor eating area.....not very good. Shower rooms get wet on the floor after showers making changing impossible. Outside bbq area had no lights and no running water. Location is ok, but saw many other campsites that looked a lot nicer. No reception staff when we got there, had to check in at a motel down the road, which was not too much of a problem but just a little unusual. Have gotten way better, cleaner facilities for much less! I understand it is an expensive area but these are our thoughts :)
Showers and a good amount of wifi included (500mb) but other than that I would not stay here again.
Hi
I am sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay.
I believe you stayed just after we re-opened after being closed for the winter. I am happy to say all bathrooms now have rubbish bins, the showers have large mats in them and we have lights in the BBQ area along with cold running water next to the BBQ.
I hope the rest of your holiday went well.

Could not pick a single fault with this campsite, it was so refreshing to have the extra services such as free shuttles into town, alongside being able to book activities and get advice on the area all
from reception (no commission added!) shower facilities were totally fine as they are although we were told they are being updated next week, and a pool and hot pools are being added! The kitchen and lounge area is amazing---- open log fire, tv and sofas! Along with an outdoor seating area and bbq! The staff were absolutely fantastic and made the effort to walk around the park and check on people :) would definitely stay here again and would recommend this to families and young travellers like ourselves.
Thank you for your wonderful review on our amazing holiday park. It's lovely to read you enjoyed your stay so much and i'm thrilled we were able to assist you with all your activity planning. We have started our reservations now and you will have to come back and see us again when they are all complete to see the new park.
