WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!
(relaxed hosts can make...) I'd rank them 15 out of 10 if the system only permitted it!
No "law&order"-type rules spelled out like in so many other camps, check-out time is just seen as a recommendation, etc etc... And guess what? It was the cleanest, quietest and most well run site seen in the entire country! Free (!!!) laundry, WIFI that REALLY works, spotless facilities, plenty of space... AND EVEN ONE OF THE CHEAPEST FULL-FACILITY CAMPGROUNDS I ENCOUNTERED!!!
It makes a difference when, on checking in, you get to hear "make yourself at home" rather than feeling like just some cash cow who is actually a nuisance to the staff... Perhaps the owner should give workshops in 'how to make your guests feel happy"!!!
The location itself provides a PERFECT pitstop between Christchurch and Dunedin, or when coming down the Waitaki valley, just north of Oamaru. Criss-crossing back&forth I endet up just there 3 times...

Beautiful mountain but someone was bored enough to build fences right up to the mountain top (1630m).
All private farmland?

Very cheap and you get more than you would expect in such a remote location (which is beautiful by the way).
DOC facilities and servcies are generally surprisingly good!

Hop on and off is a nice idea and works well, but it is not only transport, it is a 'must party on the bus' with the driver being the cheerleader.
Probably appealing to some but I would prefer to be left in peace on the bus.

Very nice idea (like a swiss army knife).
The particular car we obtained is a bit run down, the fuel consumption is exorbitant compared with the power it delivers. So in Europe the car would not be deemed road worthy (Fuel + environment reasons). Is this a problem of the car, Spaceships or all cars in NZ in general??
Hi Martin, Spaceships are usually viewed as very fuel-efficient (and powerful) especially compared to a big bulky motorhomes. If you have time please contact our Spaceships office about your Spaceship so we can chase this up and test your specific vehicle. We hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and we're glad you liked the concept!
Kind regards, Team Spaceships

Professionally operated.
Good speaker but larger boat and more people than with Mitre Peak Cruises. Weather was very good to it was nice but in bad weather i would prefer Mitre Peak.

A lot of walking but not difficult at all.
Too much time spent in the forest. If you seek mountains then don;t choose this walk. It's just walking long distances....

Professionally operated tour.
Private feeling with the small boat and not that many people. They compensated well for the horrible weather.

Demanding but not difficult.
Beautiful views and Mueller hut is well run. Check the weather and bring some mountain / alpine experience in difficult weather conditions.

Good flight with professional instructor.
Even as an experienced pilot I got some good new hints. The drawback was the somewhat rigid approach to flying gliders (landing exactly after the 3 hours we agreed upon) The rental of the plane wasn't cheap but then they are not a club and need to operate commercially.
