We expected more for the money we paid!
Campsite is situated directly next to the highway with logging trucks passing all day and night. Yet it offered a good sea view.
No rubbish bins in the kitchen which was rather small and lacking all cutlery/crockery etc.
The showers were outdated, but clean.

Stayed here in early November 2016.
Spacious campsite, well equipped kitchen, free farm eggs and free cold washing machine! Close to a historic bridge/river (fishing). Note that there are only three showers in total and the kitchen is rather small. Great value for what you pay (even though prices increased to 7 $ pp)! Friendly camp owners who will come to meet you and have a chat in the evening...

A protected place just off the highway providing basic facilities such as drinking water, toilets and picnic tables-for free!

A great location just on the lakeshore.
We stayed there for two nights in late September and enjoyed it very much! It's only a short way to the city's centre and the park offers plenty of possibilities in your spare time: The 3 hot mineral pools at different temperatures, a swimming pool, an actual private "Hot Water Beach" and make sure you bring along groceries (and time-it takes up to 3.5h until everything is well-cooked...) for hangi style cooking in their free steam oven! It is so easy if you follow the hints on a board next to it and use their
trays ($10 deposit). The kitchen is great with plenty of space and cooking facilities including fridge/freezer while you have to pay $2.50 for the baking oven. Most of the staff we encountered was very friendly and helpful.
Hi there Philipp Jahn, thanks for reviewing us. We are happy you have a pleasant stay with us and enjoyed hot mineral pools,a swimming pool and hot water beach.Nice to know that we are doing everything right.Happy travels, management.

A great spot close to several beaches and with wonderful walks around.
When we stayed in September the site was not staffed, but it appears to be in summertime (which probably also grants you access to cooking facilities and a fridge). Plenty of space for both tents and caravans (though no power provided). There is a boat ramp near by.

Make sure to get a site with beach view!
Just 50 meters to the beach which probably makes it a great place for a summer holiday, but as a stop for one night it is too far off the highway-the road is winding and narrow for the last 20km. We stayed here in September and the prices had changed: $13 per adult and $6.50 per child plus an obligatory fee of $2.50 for a rubbish bag which was a lot in comparison to what facilities there were.
