Nice quiet camp site.
Arrived with small campervan and had booked and paid
a head for one nightand was going to pay for the 2nd night when we arrived. . Seems our grassed site wasn't available..so they gave us a concrete patch close to the loose, kitchen and lounge, nice..we planned staying for 2 nights and because they couldn't give us our designated site we got our second night for free..lovely.
The beach was so close.

Wow ☺️ brilliant camping spot 👌 highly recommended stay.
We found this spot after finding no luck at Mangakino reserve..to late for a space 😢😢
It was late Easter Saturday weekend afternoon and Whakamaru was busy with everyone parked close to the lake but we found a very good spot for our camper van to make ourselves at home. Got awesome evening photos 📸 and equally brilliant morning photos of the mist on the lake..stunning.
Will definitely be going back.

These wonderful pools were open on Christmas Day!
We went in the evening about 10 pm - a beautiful way to end Christmas with the man I love :-) The only thing was listening to a crying child in the public pools who should have been in bed at that time of night!

I spent 2 and a half hours wandering around this magnificent park.
Highlight was watching the feeding of the lions. The keeper of the lions talked about them and explained in detail where they came from and their names. Each lion knows it own name and respnded to the keepers voice. amazing! The ladies in the shop were very cheerful and helpful.
A highly recommeded place to visit.
