Gorgeous little fellas.
If you are lucky you will see 2 - 6 coming ashore between pre dusk and sunset. Worth going but dress warm and bring patience.

Small boat with very friendly staff and a warm captains welcome.
It makes you feel like more of an individual than those big cruises.

Well organised, not too adventurous so take a private guide if you want the special treat.
Blue ice onlu shows in sunshine but still a good experience walking around the glacier.

Simple but clean and $10 for non powered site = great value. Close to nice walks up the Rakaia gorge.

Really nice to watch the sunset and way better than those crowded pools at Hamner Springs.

Behind dunes with great views of Monkey Island and open sea - FREE but also only two simple toilets.

A good 3 to 4 hour walk if you leave from the DOC site.
Manageable with small children but pushchairs are no use. Sometimes to wind gets very rough.

The best way to travel.
Take as large a campervan as possible (depending on your budget). There are no worries about roads as even dirt tracks were always possible. We rented bikes and child seat which did not pay off. Make sure you have gas heating when camping away from power. Buy a huge amount of groceries when in big centres makes food quite cheap. United Campervans had low prices and good conditions.

To long for small children and nothing special for us.
Too expensive but good for railways lovers - others should spend their money somewhere else.

Very nice walk down to Sandfly Bay.
Took us 45 minutes return. At the beach there is a good chance of seeing seals and see lions. A very good walk with children but a steep ascent back up again.
