Our Lucky Rookie van may have tons of miles, but it has been kept in great shape.
One month on the road and we have had no issues with the van. One issue though is that the door has a terrible screech that may wake camp neighbours!!

We took a 1 day trip to kayak Doubtful Sound.
The rain was pouring, but our guide kept the spirits up. Unfortunately, this guided trip was a bit too restrictive for us as we were made to stay very close together as a group. Trip would be best for new kayakers.

We hiked to the Harris Saddle which made for a long day but the views kept pushing us onwards.
I highly recommend this day hike if the huts are full.

The trip was ideal for us as we were given freedom to explore the Fjord. Our guide was knowledgeable about local geology, flora and fauna.

Carroll Hut track

A steep climb in the bush opens up to alpine vegetation.
Sitting atop a gentle slope sits Carroll Hut. The view from the small hut was fantastic. We took a day trip from the hut to beautiful blue alpine lakes. Kiwi calls could be heard in the night from the hut.

Incredible hut surrounded by glaciers and views of an expansive valley.
The nice hut and sunset/sunrise made the gruelling hike up worth the effort!!
