10 plus from us.
We found this great place on our way back from North to Auckland by coincidence. We wanted to stay 1 night but stayed another one. It's a big well maintained camp ground with a very few permanent campers and some local families. Others are surfers. The beach is directly behind the dunes. Wonderful. During low tide great place for kids for playing and swimming. During high tide quite high waves, many surfers. The pitch was first row behind the dunes. During the night we could hear the waves. Facilities as big kitchen, all weather room, toilets and showers (.50cents) very clean and tidy. There are 2 playgrounds. After about 30 nights in NZ it's the best camp ground we have stayed at. Thanks for this nice spot.

Nice manageable camp ground with a few cabins right at the end of Waitangi River and close to the beach/supermarket.
Walkable to Paihia (1.6km). The small kitchen, gas BBQ, free showers/toilets are clean and well maintained. The pitches are next to each other, whether on grass or gravel. We liked it though. No playground. A bit pricy, I guess because of the location.

Large nice camp ground with some cabins.
Huge kitchen and many free showers/toilets, lounge with TV and pool billiard, kids playground, small pool. The camp is directly located at the river. Watch your children! And after sunset millions of mosquitos. Free choice of our pitch. Most pitches are under big trees with picnic tables. "Far away" from Paihia. Have to move the camper van to get to town (7.5km).

The location and view right at the beach is great.
The camp ground is huge. The pitches with power are big but next to each other, no privacy. A lot of local campers, some permanent. The kitchen is good and clean, no seating inside. The washrooms are beachlike, nothing special. Friendly hosts.

It's a nice spot right at the ocean.
You can chose the pitch if enough space. We had a direct view on the beach/ocean. The beach is soso: Stones, rocks and shells. No real sandy beach. But we and our son (4) enjoyed it anyway. Nice sunset. Small playground, small coffee shop with small range of fast food too; facilities as showers (.50$)/toilets old fashion but ok. A bit far away depends where your camper stands. Laundry and kitchen/ lounge clean. It's a very local motor camp with a lot of local families, a few cabins and some permanent campers. Very busy during the day because it has a boat ramp. Very independent, nice location if you like nature. Walking to town, for us too far... ~3km. You can hire kayaks at the site.

Nice and quiet camp ground on grass with a lot of space.
It's mainly a park with cabins but much space for camper vans or tents. It's opposite of Flaxmill Bay (small beach) and close to Cooks Beach and Ferry landing (ferry to Whitianga, attention: no vehicles just people and bikes). Free Wifi, very tidy kitchen and bathroom (must be new). Shower is limited to 6min. No playground. Picnic tables around. Staff/host friendly. We can recommend the place and it's less expensive than the other ones around.
Thanks for taking the time to review us.

10 plus for the location right at the beach!!!!
The camp ground is rather small and a lot of permanent campers. But the hosts and location are nice. We had a pitch in the first row, just the dunes where between us and the beach. Amazing. Once we had arrived our son immediately jumped on the beach and started to play. Pay attention: the waves are strong. Good for surfing, not for swimming (at least in April). The facilities as kitchen, bathroom is old fashioned but clean. If you like a beautiful spot and friendly people that's the right place to stay. Btw, a powered site is much cheaper than any other motorcamp in Whakatane till Matata we had checked before.

The camp ground is nice, pitches are separated by hedges.
Facilities are clean and ok. We arrived quite late after Wellington ferry on the way north. Host was a bit grumpy to us. Camp ground was very busy (Easter holiday), a lot of families with many kids. Good for stopover nothing more.

Perfect spot for 1 or 2 nights.
Carpark next to the beach. Don't come too late, it's a crowded place. Depending on the size of the campers the right hand side of the carpark is suitable for 7-9 campers. Toilets are ok not more not less. Water for rinsing off the sand available left from toilet. Beach is wonderful and suitable for kids. Met nice locals while fishing. Less than 100m on the Main Street you will find a fish'n'chip shop and a small grocery store.

9 because of the price because it's Taupo?!?!
The camp ground is nice and a mix out of camper, tents and cabins. The pitches are different sizes and all separated by hedges. The unisex bathroom (toilet/shower) is clean but very crowded. Kitchen is good equipped but we didn't use it. The staff is very professional and friendly. The camp ground is next to a water park with thermal water. You will get discount as a camper. It was nice but crowded also.

Nice camp ground with different options.
Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Facilities as kitchen, laundry, bathroom/shower are clean (for free). Camp ground for tents and Camper big enough. We had the free choice of choosing our pitch. Nice playground for kids, swimming pool (cold) and a lot of space anyway. We liked it! Eat your own prepared or in Picton. On Easter Sunday was a Easter Egg Hunt organized by the owners. Nice idea!

It was raining and we wanted to stay 1 night only on the way to Picton.
But nice location (a few meters to Marina and town centre), friendly host and very tidy facilities made us stay another night. The kitchen is well equipped incl. pots and pans. The shower costs 1$ per 8min. Playground and public park is located right beside the camp site. We have payed 38$ per night for a powered site. We can recommend the motorcamp !
Thanks for taking the time to review us and for staying the extra night. Hopefully the rest of your trip has gone well. Regards Murray

Beautiful spot and pure nature.
Nice and friendly. Clean. Mini playground. Right next to the sea (Cable Bay). Attention: when it rains the road can be flooded - you might get stuck, no other way out of the Valley!

A bit old but charming.
Friendly host. Playground, tennis, volleyball, pool, water front... Facilities as large kitchen, bathroom, showers are clean. The campsite is very big and we had a free choice where to park/camp (powered side). We had direct sea view. A lot of permanent campers. A Café is located at the sea side. We can recommend a walk to the Mapua Wharf, great fish over there e. g. smokehouse (take away).

10***** from us.
We (mum, dad, 4 year old boy) have stayed here for 1 night because of the good reviews. It has been just great. With another camper we have been all by ourselves. Nice beach for our son. Toilet clean. Nothing else there just pure nature. Nice sunset. Beautiful. We Loved it.

2 nights here to spend some time in this beautiful town and do some cruising.
Nice camper site, grass ground or pavement. From most of the sites great view to the sea. 10min walk to Akaroa town but attention: its down the hill, on the way back its exhausting up the hill 😩
Facilities such as kitchen, shower, laundry clean. Staff friendly. Pool looked nice But it was Too cold to swim. Nice playground. Quite busy camp ground, every evening a lot of "arrivals". During the day peaceful, quiet at night. Good place to stay.

After 1.5 weeks in NZ we can confirm it's a good place to be.
We have arrived around 6pm. It was not crowded. Luckily no sandflies either. Very friendly host, nice and tidy kitchen & bathroom. In the kitchen/TV room there is a nice fire place for cold days. The camper sites are kind of private cause separation by hedges/bush. We fully can recommend this camp site.
