What an adventure!
Grade 5 river rafting with really nice guides who explained a lot, not only about the rafting itself. I would do it again! It was totally worth it and so much fun! I felt safe the entire time.

Tongariro Alpine Crossing

The Crossing was a must do, but unfortunately every single tourist seems to know that.
I walked the track on 19 March 2016 and it was totally overcrowded and impossible to determine your own speed. Apart from this, the view was stunning and a nice reward for the way up. One adviceL pack sunblock, a warm jackers and wear proper hiking boots.

It is one of the great walks and as such it leaves you breathless - because of the landscape and the hike itself.
The weather is very important as it can change quickly and leave you with no orientation. Pack a compass/map and be ready for slippery areas and river crossings. Effective walking time is 20 hours (good level of fitness), 3 to 4 days.
