Nice quiet site close to the goldfields shopping mall - pak n save, McDonald’s and the warehouse amongst other shops.
A bit confusing as there were no freedom parking signs up but we relied on the directions noted on rankers. Next to miniature train (runs Sunday) and the school of mines museum. No toilets other than by the miniature train station - maybe 50m walk and also close to birdhide and walkway. Picnic bench nearby too.

Quiet site in a carpark in town.
Close walk to new world supermarket with a laundrette by the carpark. Only three carpark spaces.

A nice enough stop for the night by the boat ramp with a toilet close by.
Arrive after 5.30 on weekdays as construction work next door. Plenty of room and shade and quiet night. Check out the fishies and crab from the jetty.

Great company to rent from - found out about McRent from a friend.
At that point, only thought there were two major players in the market where we had rented from in the past. McRent beats both of these in terms of quality of van, layout, space; quick and easy pickup; great pre-pickup service and dropoff also went without a hitch. Would definitely rent again - love the two bunk set up at the back (and big garage doors)!

Packed and crowded even during the shoulder season.
Amenities are clean and new - kitchen and bathrooms. Lovely outdoor setting and close to the hot springs. Kids enjoyed the spring free trampolines. Campground should have rules for guests to keep the noise down after 10pm ... we heard guests still speaking quite loudly past that time!

Great location as close to town.
Probably wise to get there early to secure a spot - say 5ish to get a view of the ocean! Big rock steps to get down to the beach. Two flushing toilets on site and well maintained. Close to a doc kiwi guardian site!!!

Quiet tranquil spot.
Arrived around 9.30pm and only one vehicle parked up. Lots of bird song, amenities included a little kitchenette (in the summerhouse) which had a microwave, kettle and sink. Gorgeous!!!

Amazing views and it’s free.
Loads of space available for campervans. Four toilets but long drops (but well maintained). Mt cook alpine salmon just round the corner at the lake pukaki visitor centre - still premium pricing but smoked salmon pate is lovely!

Loved this place - was quiet and not too far out of town.
Amenities were new, clean and well maintained. Kids loved the playground and we enjoyed the edible garden. Glowworm dell was just 5 mins down the road.

One of our favourite powered sites during our South Island trip.
Karen was welcoming and was informative (of the places we were thinking of heading to next), and showed us around the site and was thoughtful enough to give us the code for the disabled toilet for our littlies and chose a site that was right next to the footpath - so no walking on wet grass! Loved the BBQ, the cooking equipment/utensils, teatowels(!) and drying racks(!!) available in the common amenities block. The toilets were clean and colourful - the girls came back remarking that there was music in the toilets and the color in the block. Lovely walk down to the river and amazingly peaceful! Will definitely stay here again if we are in the Murchison area. Thanks Karen!

Wow! This DOC campsite is amazing - the staff were friendly and gave us codes to access both powered and non-powered sites.
We had booked the powered site and were reluctant to stay in the non-powered site (as offered to us by the staff there) due to the cold and the need for heater in the van. So they allowed us to use the facility at the non-powered sites. Kitchen was tidy and clean - no utensils or pots and pans, only gas hobs (no power points) and sinks. Toilets were clean as well both in the powered and non-powered. Laundry facility at the non-powered site and a laundry sink. Only 2 toilets in the powered-sites (one of which has a shower with amazing hot water!). No views in the powered site but great views in the non-powered site - so walked down to the river (some sandflies about) and then another walk up towards the waterfall. Spotted some glow worm strands on the Circle track the next morning so should have gone out for a night walk... Poor wifi connection - but who needs it when you have amazing bird song to wake up to in the morning! Hope to be back again, thanks Pelorus team!

Helpful friendly staff - had a 'duh' moment with the powercord and the staff came over to assist (even going back for a spare to test) and all this after closing time - this was much appreciated!
The grounds was boggy due to the rain (and staff was aware of this and shifted us to a 'drier' area - thank you!). I can this park can be good fun in good weather - the only reason we booked here was the range of activities that we could do/see (but we didn't as arrived too late and was raining). Bathroom and kitchen amenities are average - quite dated but clean. Would stay here again if we were in Chch.
