South Island ▷ Queenstown Region ▷ Queenstown Township ▷
2.5/5
Not a huge ski area but with some options for off piste.
Can become an excrutiatingly expensive day once all gear hire and passes are paid for. The new ski centre up there is well looked after, but take your own sandwiches to avoid building the days bill.
South Island ▷ Fiordland ▷ Milford Sound - Fiordland National Park ▷
3.5/5
Cost included transport there and back to Queenstown and a cruise.
Very imaginative throughout the trip although a long day. Spectacular views.
South Island ▷ Wanaka Region ▷ Wanaka Township ▷
4.5/5
The drive from Wanaka to Haast is one of the most impressive we have ever done, if not number one!
Plenty of places to stop and admire the views along the way - Blue Pools being a great one to stop and chill if you have the time.
South Island ▷ Mount Cook - MacKenzie ▷ Mount Cook ▷
5.0/5
The walk starts with over 2000 steps up to the Sealy Tarn - tough on the calves but the reward of Mt Cook and the valley below makes it well worth your time.
Another 2 hours hike will take you up to the Mueller Hut (where you can stay) and more spectacular views. Hard graft but very, very rewarding.
