I did the Yakas Walk to the 7th largest Kauri tree in New Zealand and that was magnified because you walk around an hour to go to the tree.
You can touch it and the walk to there is beautiful, you can completely relax. A must do in New Zealand! The Tane Mahuta is nice as well but very touristy.

It is a nature path created by a Swiss couple, we paid $15 and it was well worth it.
It was nice to walk through a landscape made with so much love. Really, really beautiful.

We have taken the Bluebridge ferry because it was a bit cheaper and we saved around $30.
The ferry left at 8am in Wellington so it is nice to have the view to the islands at daytime. We were lucky and saw some dolphins.

The New Chums Beach is a pretty sick beach here in New Zealand, you can't go by car so you walk around 30 minutes to the beach along the coast.
You can climb a little hill/mountain and have an overview to the beach. It is not so much tourism as Cathedral Cove.

I have done the free cave and that was really exciting.
The first called the Organ Cave was the best.
