We got the train from Springfield rather than paying to go through the suburbs and Christchurch which was a good idea.
Enjoyed the trip, great views, especially from the observation carriages but then you could not listen to the commentary. There was no notification that the train was running over an hour late on return - a notice could have been posted at the station.

Seemed expensive but was well worth it.
Crew excellent, very informative nature guide, saw rare penguins, seals and dolphins. Good food too! Kayaking was great!

Came here after Lake Tekapo.
Just so beautiful but much quieter. Great place to swim and picnic.

We had waited hours to see two yellow eyed penguins in the distance earlier so decided to pay to see them instead.
Saw 70 or so come ashore!

Well maintained path, easy to access.
Uphill at the way for over an hour but fantastic views from the top so well worth the effort.

We walked down to the bay where the seals are asleep all around us plus some swimming right close to the shore!

The smallest self-contained one we could find.
Well equipped and ideal for our needs. Slightly older than some vans but just as good.

Heavy rain had closed the walk to the Glacier face but the walk up Sentinel Rock gave us a reasonable view, albeit 2500m away.
