To be honest it is just a road.
It is a beautiful landscape and a typical New Zealand road. But it is not that special. Do it if you are there anyway but do not spend an extra day.

It is a gravel road to get there but the caves are amazing.
It is really slippery, but it is easy to access, you have to go to the end of the cave to see glowworms. Looks so beautiful!

By Maori exhibition, really interesting, maybe better than Te Papa.

Great Maori exhibition.
You can learn a lot about Maori culture. Avoid going there on the weekend. But it is totally worth it. It is free but for some exhibitions you have to pay, but they are interesting.
