This was our second campervan holiday in NZ and we thought Jucy didn't quite match up to the previous rental.
The van was clearly not properly checked over before we picked it up as only one duvet and set of pillows had been provided. To be fair they handled it ok by saying we could buy more and they would refund it but it should really be checked before pickup and caused a colder than expected first night for our son. A few other niggles about the vehicle could also have been spotted - the van's heater control was defective, there was a crack in the supplied bucket, the water filling hose was split, etc. Not big things but each one took a bit of holiday time to deal with. The camper's conversion was not as well designed as it could have been with a lack of storage and no hooks to hang things on. Also, there was no hot water available in the van; we weren't expecting it but having got used to it with our previous rental it was missed for washing up. The staff at checkin and out were very pleasant. Overall, I would look carefully at others first if I was renting again.
Hi Neil,
Thanks so much for your review and helpful feedback. I'm sorry to hear there were a few frustrations with your rental. If you'd like to discuss this further, please email feedback@jucyworld.com
Thanks,
Lucy

Really nice location by an inlet near to a good beach.
Clearly signposted space for a few vans (there were about 5 on the night we stayed). Ranger came round early in the morning to check vans were self-contained and camping was in the correct place. Toilets clean but about 300m away, next to picnic tables and barbeques. No drinking water. Very peaceful place.

Predominantly a hostel but camping is available in a grassy area and there is space for a few campervans as well on hardstanding.
There is only one box for power though (4 outlets) so if you arrive too late to get a spot close to it you'll need a long power cable. Good kitchen facilities with everything you could ever need and great hot showers. Big lounge & dining area with a selection of DVDs, games, books, etc or just to socialise with other travellers. Helpful and friendly staff who can give advice on and book activities in the area. Small swimming pool available to guests which would be welcome on a hot day or after a hard day of caving. Discount for members of Youth Hostel Associations.

Friendly place right on the beach run by a nice couple.
Good kitchen facilities with plenty of pans and utensils, a small TV lounge and clean showers ($0.50) and toilets. there is a well stocked shop for essentials. Only gripe I had was that after putting the coin in for a shower the water never got hot but fortunately the weather was nice!

By far the most expensive place we stayed on our trip around NZ but we were meeting some friends and this was their choice.
It did offer a lot for the money though - the large warm pool with its bar and movies was particularly good and the children's play area was well equipped. Staff were friendly and helpful and the site was very well maintained with spotless toilets, showers and kitchen. Wifi was good but only 100MB was free - after that you had to pay for any more. If you need to use the kitchen you might require equipment (available free from reception) as not much is provided. Overall a good place for a splurge - a bit like staying in a 5 star hotel after a while in bed and breakfasts.

Nice site split over different levels with good facilities.
The kitchen was very well equipped, probably the best we found anywhere in NZ, and the toilets were very clean. There are play facilities for children and a good small swimming pool. If it is raining there is also an indoor lounge (but notice said it was for adults only) and a games room with table football, table tennis, air hockey, etc. Also a mini golf course although it had a lot of leaves and small branches from the trees on it so we didn't play. Shop didn't have a huge selection but ok for essentials and the campsite is not too far from the town which has plenty of facilities. A good stop to head for if you are going from Auckland further into the Coromandel.
Hi Neil, thanks for your review. It all helps as we are new owners and have "inherited" a lot of things that we want to improve. We will look at the sign in the TV/reading room that you are referring to. The mini golf course is swept regularly but we will keep a closer eye on it.

We stayed here for one night before visiting Hobbiton the next morning.
After the day visitors had gone it was fairly quiet and there is loads of space so it was certainly not crowded, There were a few motor boats around until dusk and also in the morning but they were not intrusive as we were not parked near to the boat launching ramp. Also some traffic going to and from the water ski club but again nothing to cause any annoyance, Toilets basic and clean. Overall a nice spot to stop for the night.
