Friendly site with good facilities.
We were going to stay at Waitomo but decided it would be nice to be near to a normal town instead of a tourist attraction. We were not disappointed. We walked across the railway line on the way in but came back via the road. We didn't notice any road noise and thought the price was reasonable. Toilets, showers and kitchen clean and well equipped. Oscar the cat was beautiful and friendly, we observed the don't feed him rule!

I think we were lucky to get in without booking.
Our powered site was quite small. The kitchen was small and crowded but clean and well equipped. The highlight was the free access to the pools but be careful they can be very hot in the morning. Seeing the hot spring with boiling water coming out of the ground was a great sight for a Brit. Can also recommend fish and chips in the cafe. This was one of my favourite places in NZ
