There is an area next to the Bus Stop Café, where there were several campervans pulled up, close to the public toilets.
We chose to move further south to a very large secluded area, bounded on one side by the lake, and the other by the golf course.
We had a huge area all to ourselves, and we were entertained by quite a variety of bird life.
There is a lovely walkway along by the lake which is used by locals to walk their dogs.
This is a really nice free camp -- highly recommended!

There were lots of areas to camp, but the area was fairly boggy in many sections due to recent rains.
So we ended up choosing to park our largish motorhome on one of the gravel powered sites, without knowing what the fees would be for power, which we didn't really need. (The information display showed that it was $8 per person without power, which we thought was quite reasonable.) To our great surprise when the friendly ranger arrived in the early evening (as expected) he told us the fee had recently been increased for power, another $8 per person per night -- so the choice was to pay this excessive fee, or move off to a possibly boggy site. We were not excited! (But we chose to pay up rather than move camp after having had dinner and some nice wine.)
The upside of this camp was the enjoyable and picturesque walk down to and along the river to the Hobbit(?) film location, I understand there are several other nice walks as well.

We arrived at Mt Lees Reserve mid-afternoon and walked the beautiful and peaceful rainforest track.
Along the way we were delighted to meet up with the Owner/Manager Graham who was doing his regular jog around the track, and we felt very privileged that he stopped his exercise to chat with us and give us a little history about the reserve.
The camp area was very neat and tidy and we were one of four motorhomes quietly camped there for the night. The toilet facilities were also very clean and tidy.

We stayed overnight 18th May in our motorhome in this lovely new and well-planned park.
We loved the location right beside the Buller River, and next to cow paddocks, and we were welcomed warmly by the friendly owner Karen.
The facilities are very well designed, spacious, with modern bright colours, and even under-floor heating! We had a wonderful relaxing evening in the kitchen/dining/lounge area, sitting by the slow-combustion fire chatting with Karen and other guests.
We will certainly be back here on future trips. 10/10!!!
