price is my biggest concern, so the no-frills approach of nakedbus is perfectly fine by me.
on a quick ride from havelock to pelorus bridge that i'd booked the morning of, the driver, perhaps already stressed by running 45 minutes late, forgot to stop at my destination so i rode on to nelson instead. my schedule was casual enough to accommodate this change, but it could have been frustrating to travellers on a more strict timetable.

my husband and i were the only ones on our quick trip to ship cove, one of the first early runs of the season.
the skipper was friendly and the views of the sounds were beautiful.

we booked this tour merely as a transport option to cape reinga, as we were planning to walk back along the beach, and found ourselves surprisingly disappointed to miss the second half of the tour.
the driver was funny, friendly, and informative and generously loaded us up with extra snacks for the long tramp ahead of us.

though jet-lagged and under the weather, this museum was the best experience that i had during my week in auckland.
my husband and i both found plenty of exhibits to interest us and didn't even make it to the third floor during our few hours there. i've since heard from others that the cultural experiences are not worth shelling out for, but did not check them out for myself.
