Campers good - however we were told we could park anywhere for free - but have found out that's not the case - not safe to do so.

Where were you told to park and who told you? We'll re-educate our peeps. FYI - parking is generally free apart from in town/city centres where there are parking metres. Don't ignore them, as you can get towed :)
