Great spot to relax.
I have been coming to this spot for over 15 years and previously you would not find another person at the pools. Now there is always people there and some times very crowded. Tourist and others are leaving large amounts of rubbish there and not cleaning up. Don't waste your time driving over rutted rocky gravel road just to sit in this hot pool.
If how ever you going to actually do some hiking / tramping or hunting / fishing it is a good spot to start from. BUT PICK UP YOUR RUBBISH.
Also have seen a few cars broken into while people sitting in the hot pools and with no cell phone signal you may be stranded if you break down.

Spent 2 weeks tent camping on a non powered site.
Lovely setting with the bay and good fishing for boats big and small. Only negatives is the shower block only gives you a short 3 min shower for 50c coin and it takes 1.5 min till the hot water comes out so short 1.5 min shower. Also care taker that was not apart of the normal management who camps by the shower block is very unfriendly and moaned and told out 5 years old daughter off when she when to shower after a swim in the sea. It is a pity small things like this ruin a nice camping spot. This camp ground is also prone to a lot of wind speaking to other regular campers so make sure your tent is up to it. Would recommend Atautu bay for a family camp, just a pity about the other small things that they need to improve on. Like longer shower time. Friendly staff (temporary staff).

This was by far one of the best free activities we did on out 2 week tour of the South Island.
The kids fully enjoyed this and we spend at least 30 min just watching well over 100 seal pups playing in the pools and on the rock. Be aware that they will come up to you to investigate to treat them with respect and don't feed them because they don't need it and we could make them sick. A MUST DO......for all driving the Kaikura highway.

We really loved these pools.
Were managed about 3 hrs.
The pools are all salt water so you can put your head under and open your eyes safely. This made a big difference for us with kids who had a ball.
If only they had a Hydro slide I would give it a 10 out of 10.
Definitely recommend to all. Only gripe is that the lockers take a $2 coin and you can open it up to get any thing out like sunscreen or a towel with out payning another $2 coin to relock. We spent $6 on locker fee's for this. FIX THIS STAFF!

Found bathrooms dirty, washing machines $4 per load expensive.
Staff not very friendly. Lots of local permanent inhabitants who creeped my wife out in the washing room and kids in the kitchen area. Don't recommend this to any one. We asked how warm the solar heated pool was and we got told they have not checked it for 2 weeks. We checked and I was surprised there was not a layer of ICE on the surface it was so cold. NOT HEATED.

No impressed.
Very unfriendly owner. This is the 2nd time we have stayed here. First was two years ago and that was good but has gone down hill since. The nice toilet facilities were not opened as they were to lazy to clean them so had to share the few toilets and showers with allot of other visitors... ie wait in line. The SPA pool is $10 a person (Wanaka was free and to pools). The showers were also dirty with large clumps of hair as dirt. Wont be back.

Excellent service from the Christ Church depo with very friendly / enthusiastic woman who runs the show...
We hired two 6 berth camper vans and tour around our lovely South Island (We from North Island). This is the 2nd time we have hired a camper van from them and every time has been so easy and hassle free. Also so good that the Road User Fee's are all covered as we drove well over 2500 km's with out any mechanical issues.
Very well equipped, maybe slight small maintenance / fixtures tightened etc needed. We will be back again I am sure an we recommend them to all our friends and family. Regards Andersen's
