So there are actually two campgrounds here.
The one on the west side of the road appears to be primary one that the pictures show which is fine - there are flush toilets, a long drop, water, and an outside sink to wash dishes. On the east side of the road, you can drive a short distance to what is called the Reserve Campground. This has a lot more secluded sites and you can actually be really close to the river. We found a great site here. There is a great 11 km bike ride - Dean's Bank MTB park - out of the west side camp and a set of great gravel trail rides out of the east camp starting at the swing bridge. Both camps appear to have semi-permanent campers at them which is a minor eye sore.

Awesome location.
The drive is a very windy drive out to here but well worth it. And it provides a great place to stay over on the way to French Pass which is a very spectacular drive. The camp has a short pier where we could see fish, sting rays, and jelly fish. We were here in April and had just two other campers by us. The long drop was very clean and there are two nice hikes near by, one of which is actually a nice MTB ride to Deep cove.

Great location for seeing the Pancake rocks - just a 10-15 minute walk.
We were here in April and it was very open camping but even at peak, it seems like it would not feel over crowded. Facilities were a bit outdated and could use updated. Went to office about questions a few times but they were not usually there.

Great place to stay on your way from Wellington to Taupo (or vice-versa).
The owners (Trish and Paul) are wonderful and extremely helpful. Campground was very nice and kayaking trip with Paul was great - very knowledgable and friendly.

Stayed here on our last night on the South Island before catching the Picton-Wellington ferry.
Great location and a well kept camp. Bathroom/shower facilities are very new and quite nice. Had a spot right by the water. At high season, it may fell a bit crowded but not an issue for us in April.

We were there on a weekend in April and had no noise issues but it was quite full and dense.
The facilities were well maintained but dated. Easy walking to town for groceries and restaurants.

Great camp just south of Abel Tasman.
We were here in April so did not swim but the stream looked like it would have great swimming holes in the summer. Don (owner) greeted us when we arrived, and suggested we check out the veggie garden and take what we would like, which was awesome - got celery, parsley, peppers. There is a little road noise here but overall was a really nice camp spot. The long drop was very clean and the overall camp ground well maintained. The app says it is not open in April but there were five campers there with us and a $5 charge per night. Definitely recommend staying here.

Was very wet when we went there making the tree area unusable.
Appeared to be very pretty but lots of sand flies and mosquitos even in mid April. Lots of other folks coming thru making it crowded for the small area. But is a good place for transitioning from Catlins to Te Anau.

Nice place to stay for your last camper night in the Auckland area.
Good facilities and a good location for exploring Lion Rock, the gap, and the beach. If you are a surfer, then probably an awesome spot. Drive is a bit steep and curvy.

The DeBrett spa pools were very nice and enjoyable.
The campground was fine but very dense and was the noisiest place we stayed in the entire 4 weeks we were in New Zealand. Upon arriving, they asked us is we would like any spa treatments and when we tried to book something, there was no availability for anything over the next 24 hours - not sure why they asked us and handed us a brochure at check in when they had nothing available - and this was April which is not a peak time of year... A good one time experience but would not ever return to.

Very nice backpacker and camping facility.
Showers were good, kitchen was very well equipped. Great location if you are doing the black water rafting - just across the street. Very friendly and let us leave our camper there until 2 while we did our cave adventure.

Crazy drive-in for something so close to a town.
We were the only campers at our little camp area. Some noise from the highway. Long drop was very clean but no toilet paper.

Excellent facilities - one of the best kitchen facilities that we saw over 4 weeks, brand new bathroom/shower block.
Some sites have a nice view of the lake. We were there in April so it was not crowded. At peak season, this place would hold a ton of campers which might feel overcrowded and dense.

Absolutely beautiful spot.
There is a very clean restroom at the park just before you get to the end of the road where you can stay. Definitely recommend driving the road out in daylight.

Very clean facilities, nice service.
Not many people there when we stayed but if it was full, it would feel a bit crowded.
Great you enjoyed our clean facilities, Surprisingly the park still has a real tranquil feel when we are full, as we have large sites

Very beautiful location!
Stayed just past the picnic are with a gorgeous view of Mt Cook. Road the 10 km bike trail to the dam and it provided wonderful views of the lake and Mt Cook. The local salmon farm has a shop at the info centre - bought some fresh salmon steaks and it was extremely good.
