Definitely not what I expected...
Didn't learn too much about Maori culture. Was more about the thermal village than about Maori traditions. The Maori show (dance, songs, Haka) was nice.

Nice small spot in the middle of the National Park.
Great chance to see (and hear) possums. Nice walks around.

Place itself is nice but it smells like not very nice everywhere (been there twice due to no other free spots, smelled like that both times).
Also I don't like the way they display their rules - very strict and rude, not really how I felt Kiwis normally are...

Nice thing to do but quite expensive.
Boat trip is really long but great chance to see dolphins (sometimes even whales).

Best camping site in this price category I've had throughout the whole of New Zealand!
Friendly, clean, unlimited WiFi, sleeping directly under olive trees!
Wow, thanks for your great review & thoughts - we really appreciate it. As travellers ourselves we try to make and maintain our facilities as we'd like to find ourselves

Not very clean and they give the worst site to those who come with a sleepervan for just one night.
Close to the kitchen and laundry room - which will be used during night time (so it was bright and loud). The owner was not really friendly when me mentioned that. Far too expensive (and you need to pay extra for laundry and WiFi). There's another camping site close by (cheaper, nicer, including WiFi, need to be there early in summertime) - go for that one!
