Such a nice spot, very beautiful on a good day.
20 metres from the ocean! There were toilets but they were closed, instead there was port a cabins which were...manageable but not for the faint hearted! Quite a windy spot.

Quite a windy spot and a few sandflies in the morning.
It was quite muddy but there's plenty of places to park on grass/gravel. Flush toilets, surprisingly with toilet paper and bins. Right on the water, great spot. A 30 minute walk to the tavern, nice owners there and decent enough food.

Really nice by the river, very quiet and lots of space.
Mind the ducks - they want your food! However, this site is so big it holds lots of people and there's only 1 sink, and not enough toilets. It's not really walking distance to the city centre but it's the cheapest place to camp in the area.

Gorgeous spot, great for a swim when sunny.
Lots of space and clean toilets. Would be nice to have some picnic benches or something.

A beautiful spot, would be great in summer for swimming.
Drop toilets and picnic benches. Quite windy when we were there and not much shelter but a good stopping point if you don't want to stay in Taupo itself.

Great for location, we walked into Wellington around the coast which took about 1.5 hours, a very easy and pleasant walk.
Clean toilets, we showered at the aquatic centre.

Good for location, toilets are clean and left open overnight.
Bins, but I couldn't find the water tap for filling water bottles. Monday-Friday you have to be leaving by 8am, On the weekend it's 9am but you also get a 'free hour ticket' from the machine - not sure if this is the same for Monday-Friday.

Don't even bother.
It's beautiful and much quieter than the other lakes, however the sandflies make enjoyment impossible. We cooked dinner in the car and left early the next morning. Even when they don't bite you, they are around your face in clouds :(

Just a car park but has picnic benches, toilets (they were left unlocked when we were there) and lots of space.
Within walking distance to Matamata centre, a great spot for a night or 2.

About a 20 minute drive from town.
Drop toilets but not too bad, benches too and lots of different spots to choose from. Lakeside, sheltered, out in the open etc.

Unpowered site for 2 people: $34.
This place is great, the owners are super friendly and welcoming and the facilities are amazing. A fully equipped kitchen with everything you could require and more! It doubles as a lounge area with plenty of seats, a TV, wifi, books and games. There's coin operated laundry, showers that go for 7.5 minutes on a timer and plenty of space in the site. Very close to town and everything you need.

This place is nothing special but the closest, cheapest place for camping near Queenstown.
Lots of space and picnic benches. Toilets were drop toilets but not the worst I've seen. We stayed here a few times after going tramping etc.

Easy to find (there's a blue caravan sign next to the gas station) The lady was lovely and very helpful.
Great facilities, $2 is fine for a quick shower, $4 if you want longer. Coin laundry, kettle, lots of toilets and plugs available to charge things. Free wifi and within 5 minutes walking distance to town.

Otto Campsite.
Clean toilets, lots of space, benches, sinks and a beautiful lake to swim in. Great for getting up early the next day to go to the Glaciers.

Close to the beach, toilets, coin operated showers, bins.
There was no one there when we arrived but there's an easy system to sign in. Close enough to Raglan too.

Beautiful campsite, very busy when we were there though.
The gravel road is fine for 2WD cars, even after heavy rain. Water supply and drop toilets.
