Starting from Onepoto with help from Big Bush, this walk is not for beginner hikers.
The first leg is strenuous but the views are breathtaking. Not overcrowded like the Tongariro Crossing can be but that may be due to the difficulty of the hike.

The best way to get your car, campervan or motoycycle from either island is the ferry.
Our rental car company took care of our booking. This ship has a bar, food court, children's area and plenty of space for all. The crew are very friendly in assuring a safe and enjoyable trip.

Another must see for Lord of the Rings fans.
Climbing UP and around Mt Doom and through 'Mordor' is better than in the movie (and safer, alas there are no Orcs!). The Circuit is beautiful but can be difficult. The proper gear is a must!

a fairly busy spot with little parking but home to one of the Lord of the Rings filming sites.
Little to nothing is left of the set but there are other activities to do here. Many, perhaps too many, came to the Elves River to swim.
