We stayed there for one night on 10.02.2016 on a powered site.
We were allowed to choose the site, which had a good size and was separated from the surrounding sites by hedges and trees. The kitchen is big enough and clean with barbecue and tables so that you could eat inside in bad weather. The sanitary building needs an update and notices said that it will be updated in 2016. You get a 50% discount for the hot pools, which we liked after a day of hiking.

Nice setting with sites directly at the beach.
Clean sanitary buildings. Kitchen without tables to eat inside.

Many permanent campers, clean sanitary building and kitchen.
Women's showers definitely need an update.
Our permanent campers don't live here, they have a holiday camper or unit to be used for holiday purposes.
We have just upgraded the women's showers a few months ago. They are now running on gas and have good pressure. We also took out the old panels and shower heads and put some new ones in the shower cubicles.
We have now put in new toilets for the Men's and Women's shower block.

Just a big lawn, no separation between the sites.
Clean facilities. A little over regulated, notices and prohibitions everywhere.

We stayed there for two nights in the middle of February 2016.
Clean and functional facilities, walking distance to Paihia and the Waitangi Treaty Grounds.

The worst holiday park we stayed in 3 weeks on north and south island.
Crammed with rotting permanent caravans, dirty and old sanitary building, small kitchen without tables inside.

The powered sites are very small and no privacy between them.
There is only one shower and one toilet each in the main building next to the powered sites. You've to put the coins for the showers in the machine outside the shower. Very small kitchen.

Modern and clean kitchen and sanitary building.
Nice setting at a small river. The campground is built in terraces so that it seems smaller than it is.

This could be a great holiday park: clean and modern kitchen and sanitary building, hot pool.
But the sites are the smallest we have seen in 3 weeks on the north and south island and you are not allowed to choose your own spot. Only a third of the sites was occupied but everybody was crammed in one part of the park.

We stayed at the Holiday Park for one night before starting the Alpine Crossing on 10.02.2016.
Ideal location to start the crossing, only a few minutes to the car park. You can book shuttles at the campground but as we wanted to leave immediately after the crossing, we had booked a shuttle with "Mountain Shuttle" and could park the campervan at their security car park avoiding the completely crowded regular car park.
The hosts both seemed friendly and took some time showing us around. The women's toilets and showers seemed updated and were clean but the mens toilets/ showers urgently need an update and weren't really clean. The kitchen seemed a little bit too small although the holiday park wasn't completely booked.

Stayed at Jacksons on 01.02.2016.
Perfect facilities, kitchen with lounge, the only negative aspects were the quite small sites and the many rules and notices hanging around.
Dear Ann-Catherine, thank you for your review and making us aware of the rules & notices we have around the park.
I wandered around the park with campers eye's on and tried to see from a campers point of view where we have over done it. Apart from the rules that we are required to notify our customers by law (my #1 Rules is to have Fun) the only other notices we have are regarding the wildlife you could possibly see during your stay, our free range eggs and our homemade bread, can't quite see how these would be offending.
Our sites are not considered small and with the very small van you were driving I would of thought they would of been quite large, I would of thought your main concern was the fact that you chose a site that was where all other vehicles passed by you for the exit which I pointed out to you at the time, goes to show how individual opinions as be so very different.

We stayed at Punakaiki for one night on 02.02.2016.
Nice campground, the sites are separated by trees and hedges, direct access to the beach, walking distance to the pancake rocks, walking tracks for short and half day walks close by.
The facilities were clean and as it wasn't crowded the number of toilets and showers was sufficient.

We stayed at the motorhome park for two nights at the beginning of February 2016.
It's all about the location because of the walking distance to the city centre. Showers and toilets were ok, but could have been a little cleaner. You should make a reservation, because after the afternoon ferries arrived there were no more sites available, which we haven't experienced at any other campground in three weeks on North and South Island.

We stayed at Pelorus Bridge for one night on 06.02.2016 at a powered site, which wasn't at the main campground but on the other side of the river.
It's mostly hard sites and some powered grass sites for tents. There is only one shower and two toilets (one in the same room as the shower) but we never had to wait for a toilet/shower and they were quite new and clean. There is no kitchen at this part of the campground, which was ok for us as we were travelling in a campervan with kitchen on board.
The reception is at Pelorus Bridge Cafe close to the main campground where some walking tracks along the river start and you can even swim in the river. It was one of the best campgrounds of our three weeks trip on south and north island.

We stayed at the camping ground on 31.01.2016 for one night.
We liked the setting between trees and the access to the beach. We were allowed to choose our own spot as we are used to from camping in Norway and we really appreciate it. The facilities were OK and clean. Showers are $2, which we don't mind but you've to put the coins in the machine on the outside.

We stayed at the Top 10 for one night before and one night after visiting Abel Tasman National Park at the beginning of February 2016.
As we were travelling without children we did not need the playground, jumping pillows, etc. but wanted to be close to the National Park. The size of the sites is ok, but it would have been nicer if they were separated by hedges for a little privacy. We were allowed to choose a site rather than be assigned one and the facilities were clean.
Hello Ann-Catherine
Thank you for sharing your experience.
I appreciate your comments in regards to adding hedges to our site, I will pass it on to the owners.
I hope you had a wonderful time in the National Park region.
We' ll see you again another time!
