This campsite has a small shed-like shelter, tables, long drop toilet, and nearby stream as its water source.
There is space to comfortably fit 5-6 tents on what is unfortunately a sloped campsite. Nonetheless, not a bad spot to spend the night if you are hiking in the eastern side of the Hunua ranges.

This is a wonderful campground in a stunning location next to Rocky Bay which looks out towards Auckland city and several of the Waitemata harbour islands including Rangitoto.
The campsite is situated in Whakanewha Regional Park which possesses a series of interesting nearby walking tracks. The campground facilities are excellent and include flush toilets, clean drinking water, an outdoor sink for rinsing and washing dishes, and outdoor cold showers. The only downside to this campground is access to and from for those without transport - the nearest bus stop is close to an hour's walk from the campsite - and, in our experience of staying at Poukaraka, this has caught several groups of people unawares. If you have access to a vehicle, or even a bike, while staying here it makes access and travel around the island much easier.
