Very nice campsite beside the beach.
Mountain view on the other side and plenty of space for your campervan. Unfortunately dozens of non self contained cars there and countless fires in the evening, although fires are not permitted. Some ruthless, stupid people left their rubbish there too! Please keep to the rules of this campsite, as mentioned in the description of the rankers nz app, otherwise I fear this site will be closed sooner or later...

What a disappointing place!
The description says it's lesser known than the Moeraki Boulders. In the end it was totally crowded with much more people than at the Boulders. Lots of people and families. Was there at 5:30pm... Fences everywhere so you can't really get close to whatever you want to see. Another sign that too many people are visiting this place. The hidden penguin lookout was also closed. For me it was a 1/10, because I went there for seeing penguins, but rated with 3 because at least you can see seals there (which you can see at several other places in the Otago area with fewer people). Would not recommend this place, what a waste of time.

Very large camping site, even when it's crowded, you'll find a place for your vehicle and/or tent.
Clean facilities (get cleaned every day), flushing toilets, men and women separated, water supply (not for drinking) and free! Donations desired for maintenance and daily cleaning of facilities. 9/10 because the site has no views, no atmosphere and was very crowded during the week. In the end nothing to really complain about.

I hired a Toyota Hiace 'The Original 3' for 53 days for me alone from 1.3.-22.4.16.
It was exactly what I expected to get, when hiring a 17 years old campervan - you can see that many people used it before. But that's no problem for me.
All tanks were full and the car was clean when I picked it up. Has also been fresh serviced, perfect!
The car runs with petrol and needs between 12,5 - 14 liters/100km.
Everything worked perfect and I had no problems, just had to exchange the fuse for the waterpump one time - was $ 3,-...
Car is certified self-contained, which is very helpful for the countless free camping areas.
Picked it up and dropped it off in Christchurch - very helpful and friendly staff there.
Cause I had to wait a little bit when picking it up, I got a GPS for free for the whole 53 days!
Was a very good experience with Happy Campers and would choose this company again.
Nothing to complain about - a straight 10.

Stayed there for 2 nights, because it's quite close to Mount Taranaki.
Hot shower is included and the facilities were clean. $19 per night for 1 person in a tent was okay for what you're getting for it. Wifi costs extra. Privacy shield between the places.
